Maybe we can have a league update, now that you’re no longer distracted?
Can’t. Am at a conference with no laptop. :(
:(
Probably not inaccurate, but still :(
Also want to add that while I think Jakeb’s first few moves were clear, there was a turn where he drew a variety of odd cards that turned out to do well, so I think he won, not Ascension won.
What turn was that? I had a busy day at work one day and fell behind on what was going on.
Right around turn six or so, I’d say. I can’t remember what happened exactly.

I agree with Gus. Akam was the killer. That was about turn six. But dorking the Deathsworn (twice!) meant we had no shot. That card is awesome if you only see it once. Using it as a persistent banisher always bogs you down.
If only I had been wearing enough pants!

Mainly this little experiment reminds me that despite everyone being stoopy-dum-dum and making bad decisions all the time Ascension is still fun.
It’s still fun to play, still fun to talk about, still fun to think about. It’s still number one in my folder of awesome games I need to check on every day (hour).
Has anyone started playing and then gotten sick of it and stopped? I don’t know anyone who has.
I got my housemate to buy vanilla Ascension on his phone. He got understandably bored of it in a few weeks. I tried to tell him that he should buy the expansions because they add a lot of interesting things to the game. He said he didn’t want to spend any more money on it. Then later that week he dropped $100 on a box of Magic cards. ugh.
Then I guess I lost all those times I used it to repeatedly cull. No, wait, I won.
I agree. There’s been a lot of “you guys are stupid” in this Hive Mind that has been absent from the others. Disappointing.

That’d be me then…
Sorry about that.
It might surprise no one that I never went back to previous hive minds and am unaware of the nature of the discussions.
My intent was to spark debate about the choices available. The nature of the game was that quick discussions and quick decisions were necessary. Once all the ideas were bandied about a decision was made and from then on the proof was in the pudding. Tone wasn’t at the forefront of consideration as much as expediency.

I’m curious about this specific game in particular. What’s the feeling of everyone as to the winnability of this game regardless of our decisions. It doesn’t seem like we could have avoided his getting every good card in one hand (he has a habit of that it seems) to get Akam. I personally have a hang up about Deathsworn, but it didn’t kill us either way. I missed the first few turns and almost have enough curiosity to go back and try to recreate the deck and hands but as a feel-thing I’m not sure we had a chance no matter what we did. Does anyone have strong feelings either way?

Oh, that’s obvious. ;-)
Still doesn’t mean I don’t come off as a dick.
It’s not a big deal, and there’s always a fine line between good-natured ribbing and sounding mean.
Plus, I like to imagine there was a lot of pressure in this particular game. This is our chance at the Big Show, man! Cobra Ki! I coulda been a contender! Rudy! Etc!
