True story: this morning, while dragging the horse arena and playing my game with annie with one hand, I had 2 cards in my draw pile and a Beast Staff. I thought, “I should check on what those two cards are, so I know whether to play the Staff.” But then, cuz I was driving the four-wheeler, I decided that they were probably both apprentices and why bother.
“Oh, I have a Nook Hound!” I said to myself. I can play that, and look at one of the cards, and see if it’s good for the Beast Staff. So I played the Nook Hound and was looking at a Repurposer. Seven points, aw yeah! Oh shit. I have to discard it or take it into my hand. Oh well, at least I can check out the last card. I discard the Repurposer.
Last card is a Cog Maw. Okay, six points is not much worse than seven, baby! Yeah! Oh shit, I have to take it into my hand.
Meanwhile, trying not to run into walls and keep straight lines with the four wheeler… that will teach me to play playoff games while driving. If I lose by 6 or less, please expect to hear a great deal of swearing in-thread.
Almost forgot to add that I did play the Beast Staff, now that my draw pile was restocked, and got an apprentice.
Combos with the Beast Staff work the other way around - you use the Beast Staff to see what’s on top of your deck for Great Omen Raven or to see if it’s worth spending that Minotaur. Or you use Beast Staff #1 to see if it’s worth using Beast Staff #2. The only combo with a Nook Hound is the Fate effect.
I know. That’s what makes my story a great story about a dumb person. :) Who shouldn’t drive while playing.

Luckily for me, my bloober didn’t cost me. AT > AP by 15, the combined worth of the mechana constructs I gathered but never really got to use. I feel lucky, as always, to escape the fate that consumed prolix earlier in the playoffs. Death by ankamela!
Unless Scott Dobros, who adorned himself with a [19] this month, wants to cut in, I’m going to attempt to take the Unicorn of Awesomeness from mctwitch! I hope to at least do better than 10-2, which is how the first one ended.

Tyjenks, I am shocked…SHOCKED… that you beat me that last game. I had PRIME, Orb of Nyxia (though didn’t draw it until last turn), Eye of Destiny…plus I killed Akam and Nemesis. I was beating you by almost 20 points at the end of the game. I don’t know what the hell cards you had to win by over 10 points. You just sent me another invite, but you’re listed as 1…not sure if you’re planning to do a best of 3 or that’s just a funzie.
