After several games, I have come to this conclusion:
4 deck games suck. It seems like they’re surprisingly likely to turn into monster clogged slugfests, and there’s too little synergy between the cards. Growmites for example become completely boring 2 honor monsters, your absolute last pick.

Gagree. I’ve become a bit zealoty about deck purity lately. The decks have been getting progressively stronger and the possibility for unbalanced play increases with mixing. Most of the complaints about the new deck 4 cards are of the form “card X is just an overpowered/cheaper card Y” when card X is from deck 4 and card Y is from either 1 or 2.
I think the Soul Gem concept is a cool way of breaking the habit of mixing 1/2 with 3/4. It’s a bit too random for my taste, but you don’t miss the old cards as much.

Gus belatedly defeated Boojum for August. Mostly I Treasury of the Studied him to death, I snagged 48 honor out of the center pool of 60, my deck was otherwise unremarkable.

I’ve had the good fortune of getting some nice lifebound going this month but that was probably the leanest, meanest, greenest deck yet. Weird game in that almost all the available culling cards were in the mix for the first couple rounds - two warriors, two necros, shadowmancer, dreamers glass. I was actually getting the short end of the stick for a little while as every time I took a culling card, something even better would take its spot. But the green cards starting falling into my lap and away we went.

I realize I’m sucking this month, but I can’t tell you how awesome it is to prevail against someone so good! My combined record against Tyjenks is now like 20000 loses to 2 wins…but they came at the right time;)

Bah. I’m alright. You played great against me. The losses were not close. There are a lot of good players now. I thinking winning with any sort of consistency is very difficult. Those that continue to be in the playoff every month know what they are doing. That is fo’ sho’.

Tyjenks is right. The quality of play across the board is much higher than when this league started. Everyone is very good now. I also think that the newer decks are less exploitable and introduce more of an element of chance.
