Just start challenging people in that group and report your wins here. Then Dave will update the table (eventually).

Yeah she’s one of my regular opponents, she’s really good actually! I think that’s the most lopsided score I’ve seen vs a human opponent ever.

I’ve played her too and usually get curb stomped. Why isn’t such a person in the league?

First turn Dreamer’s Glass should be banned from this game.

I’m looking at you, fellow Ontarian!!

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Dreamer’s glass is over-powered.

I heard a talk from one of the M:TG designers a long time ago that said that they way they balanced cards in a set was they basically just assigned an arbitrary mana-cost to each ability in the set, and then combined them in various ways to get the different cards. Apparently you never have to really worry about if each ability is balanced against the other abilities (i.e. if the costs are appropriate), because the cards, having derived costs, would naturally be balanced against other cards. (within reason, of course). If there are individual cards you want to buff / debuff, you can just tweak the cost from that baseline value. (When I type if out, this strategy seems very, very obvious, but it wasn’t to me at the time).

I’ve been toying with the idea of applying that theory to reverse-engineer balance for Ascension cards, to see what cards are over-powered. I don’t know that there’s enough card variety to do it with any confidence though: there’s really fewer cards than it appears, because monsters have a separate economy, and there are a fair number of unique effects. There are some interesting cases like Elder Skeptic vs. Temple Librarian, which require accounting for the order of effects, and I’m not sure how to value constructs vs. heroes.

Uhhh…In any case, the upshot of all this being that I think if you did this exercise, Dreamers Glass would be mad overpowered.

I’ve been playing her since the intra-squad scrimmage we had a few months back with TouchArcade. This ongoing game has been just deck four since probably the day it came out. We’ve probably played 30 games since then and just keep hitting replay at the end. It’s been really close to 50-50 up until this last one.

Here’s what happened in this one. I got lucky and both my Wandering Askara on the last ‘A’ turn to allow a ‘B’ turn. There were 0 stars at this point and I’m just finishing up. I was probably going to win by ten or so. Since it was so close to the end of the draw pile my next turn ended up getting enough Soul Gems to draw through and get more Wandering Askara on the ‘B’ turn, and so on. I ended up exhausting the Soul Gem pile and the Draw pile each of the last ‘C’, ‘D’, & ‘E’ turns. Through careful management of the Trophy Monsters and banishable heroes I could kind of pick which monsters were going to come out. Since I had Orb of Nyx I was getting Soul Gems like crazy. I think the Soul Gem pile lets you draw about 16 cards if you play them all. That allowed me to keep drawing the Askara enough to allow the 5 sub-turns. I got greedy at the end and used the white to buy 15 HI so my draw deck was so stuffed that I didn’t draw the Askara during the ‘E’ turn and that ended it (after I bought 15 more HI).
There were so many cards in the play ares and my hand that I think the game got confused and didn’t show them all. It also got confused and started putting event cards on the tableau. I couldn’t buy them, but I could banish them.
Anyway, after my 5 sub-turns a Deathsworn had come out and she had to choose whether to banish one of her cards due to the fate. Poor thing had to sit through all that.

Perkins is an honorable man. Guess I’ll cancel my appointment with the neurologist.

Umm, anyone else trying out Tanto Cuore?
This is one creepy effing game…

Wheeljack, mad OP, indeed!

opk, is this an anime-based deckbuilder from Playdek??!?

Yeah, it’s full of creepy hollow eyed busty maids with odd french food names and garters. From what I gather the money is called love and if you love the maids enough they’ll work for you. Some of them will work in your private chambers. I think those are kinda like constructs in Ascension/Penny Arcade. The rest of it feels like a stunted adolescent boy vision of Dominion. Creepy to the max.

On the plus side, it’s the Playdek engine so it just works. Its not an non-functional ‘beta’ like SolForge was for 6 months.

What other crazy ideas will people bring next to the deckbuilder genre???

My GameCenter ID is actually ItsTheDukester — that throws people off, sometimes.

Boojum defeats Scottagibson

delirium over boojum in playoffs 88-76 (+12) Fun game - and it could have easily swung the other way. Moment of Clarity stuck around for most of the game and paired with my Murasama, I ended up with a lot of free banish/buy power.

…much to scottagibson’s chagrin. I kept thinking I was close and just needed one strong turn, which never came…

Playoffs
pacman over prolix 82-59

I took an early lead in points off some monster slaying, and rode that out for the win, good game.

Ahh, right, I forgot about them. I’m surprised there’s no new achievement for doing that.

TheDukester def. ScottGibson in a thrillah.

Gus defeated Delirium in the Circle. Basically, I was the first to consistently draw 6 Runes when the center was monsters and some 6-cost cards including Raj, the Soul Marshal, and one of the Axes. Bought Raj, bought the axe, used Raj to swap a Heavy Infantry for the Soul Marshal. He did get Emri and got some good use out of her, but it wasn’t enough.

Going second, I knew that I was at a disadvantage to get the 6 point card of my choice, but I figured it wasn’t a big deal as there were 3 equally good cards and SURELY I would be grab at least one of them if I stacked up on Mystics. I was so bummed when you scooped them up as I kept drawing to 5 runes. I finally hit 6 runes thinking I might get the Soul Marshal on my next turn, when you used Raj to get him. Was able to make a game out of it once I got Emri, but you had a pretty killer last turn and mine wasn’t so great. GG.
