I don’t know. I’ve never been able to make heads or tails of the fiddly bits of the scoring. Also, I’m not clear on whether my tie-breaker with Jay will finish in that time frame - we have 15 points left in the center, but obviously it’s taken a long time to advance to this point.

I don’t think that your game with Jay will matter, Gus, nor will Pacman’s game with MP (Pacman can lose that game and still make the playoffs.)

I will explain the fiddly bits of the scoring with the help of my BRAND NEW EXCEL COLUMN:

Fiddly bits: every time a player makes the playoffs, I add a dot under his or her name along the top row. When you defeat such a player, you win those dots. The “dots” column totals your dots. Think of them as rewards for beating tough players.

For example, bigdruid won 6 dots for beating me (2), dannimal (1), Emos (a), Magius Paulus (1), and quies (1). But this didn’t give him a bonus. Wilykat, on the other hand, slaughtered former playoff players to the tune of 14 dots, most in his group, so he won a bonus as follows:

The person(s) in the group with the most dots get(s) a 3 point bonus. The person(s) in the group with the second most dots get(s) a 2 point bonus. The person(s) in the group with the third most dots get(s) a 1 point bonus. This bonus appears in the “bonus” column, and is simply added to their total number of points.

Each player should challenge all of the players below that player in this list. (So sinnick challenges everyone, and Pacman challenges no one.) The list is ordered by point total and then at random to break ties. Winners should report point differentials in boldface. It would also be nice if you would announce when you have made your challenges! Something like:

My challenges are sent! Good luck to everyone named Dave!
