You’re godamn RIGHT you are! I’ve told you like three times in the thread, iron over the Big Colonel Timothy for the xmas circle!

I think it was cuz the Colonel and I finished so early that you weren’t checking that far back for Xmas Circle results :)

How does it play compared to the other games here? And is the beta available only on PC and Mac so far? I see it’s coming to iPhone later.

Thanks, for the update, Dave!

Note that I also have a win over prolix; and tecwrtr beat me. My games are all complete. Is it February yet?

pacman over Annie 2-1

I was feeling good about game 3 going into the final turn, but then watching you pick up point after point I was starting to worry! Fortunately I held on for the win, good games.

I think PC and Mac only for now, yes. It isn’t asynch either. But games take about as long as Ascension games, only far more of them are super close and tense. Every turn can radically change the momentum.

Thanks for the updates, Scott and iron!

Had an interesting choice with my second game against Dave. First turn, 5 runes in hand, and the cards were Shadowcaster, Arha Sensei, Nook Hound, Nethersnare, Sordid Asp, and Ender of Days. The robotic play would be to buy the most expensive card: the Shadowcaster. But my feeling is that the Sensei is the stronger card at the start of the game, despite being cheaper. It rapidly adds Mystics I’d have to buy otherwise while it’s deleting cards, and if I draw 3 Apprentices + 1 Militia + Sensei, that’s 5 runes where I could have at most 4 runes with 3 Apprentices + 1 Militia + Shadowcaster. So I went Sensei + Nook Hound.

I’ve had debates on another forum about Arha Sensei vs Elder Skeptic in R1 (the arguments were fierce and split down the middle), but in your case, I think the Shadowcaster would be a slightly better call just because of how crummy the Sensei gets starting mid-game!

Also if he can’t get 5 runes in the first two turns, you have a pretty good shot at getting the Shadowcaster as well.

I have wins over Emos and S-Gib.

OMG, how did I not know about that. I’ve been playing for a month or so and want to improve.

You can still get 5 runes with 3 Apprentices + 1 Militia + Shadowcaster. Play shadowcaster, draw apprentice, then banish militia and draw another apprentice. Obviously it depends on the draws, but it gets even better if you have the chance of drawing a mystic. So it is maybe less probable than with the sensei, but it is at least possible and I’m not sure the probability is really much lower.

Oh yeah, getting five runes is pretty high with Shadowcaster in the early rounds, as pacman said. It’s definitely the better way to go :)

Shadowcaster all the way.

So here’s how my second game with Justin in the Bananas final started. I go first, take two Great Omen Ravens. Pretty nice, right? Round two I buy a mystic. Round three, I draw both of my militia, two apprentices and a Great Omen Raven. This means I have left in my deck 6 apprentices, 1 mystic, and my other Great Omen Raven.

6/8 chance (75%) chance of drawing an apprentice with my Great Omen Raven. Result: my other Great Omen Raven.

Okay, fine, these things happen. Play my newly drawn Great Omen Raven.

6/7 chance (86%) chance of drawing an apprentice. Result: Mystic.

Chance of both of these things happening: 6%.

Meanwhile, Justin is sucking up Mechana like it’s going out of style.

Omen: poor.

I don’t much care for Great Omen Ravens. They’re great if you have some way of putting stuff on top of your deck regularly, or can peek with Beast Staff. Otherwise I’ll only take one if I want a card that doesn’t take space like a Heavy Infantry, or I’ve got a card with a very strong Unite ability like Sabre or Lionheart.

I had a pillow case made with Shadowcaster on it so I could sleep with it every night. If you see what I mean.

I have a funny story. Am playing opkopk, and, feeling like I was behind, I used a Beast Staff to see if I might draw my Autobuilder (5 pts) out of a hand of maybe 12 otherwise useless cards. I do: ding ding ding ding ding! Next hand, I play my Autobuilder. On my next turn, which turns out to be the last turn, I have no cards in my draw pile and 14 cards in my discard pile, so I burn the Autobuilder into the discard pile and play the Beast Staff again. And AGAIN I draw the Autobuilder!

Odds of this happening: (1/12) times (1/15) = (1/many) = opk is >:(

Ravens (the green ones, not the Baltimore ones) for the win! They are automatic buys for me.
