I think the best games are with the first two sets or the second two. In particular the way events and Mechana work are so different that using three or more sets just dilutes things and games become more random.

I actually don’t like mixing the second two. I like playing Immortal Heroes with some of the promo cards but not with SoS - the Events from the two sets don’t have the same flavor and really don’t seem to work well together. The heroes don’t have the same synergies either (particularly Lifeforce) - it really screws up the strategies, IMO.
