What if people who are still in the Circle could opt to play the people in the Pit as of today, if they chose to, in preparation for the possibility that they will eventually be IN the Pit? Winners could report results like usual, and should the Circle player go on to be the Circle champion, then those results would not be needed.
More games for everyone, and a way to head off potential issues with timing!

Ooo, also, wins by Pit folks against Circle champs could count as a point like normal, so that means that all games played by Pit folks would count no matter what. Only early wins by Circle champs would not matter.
My issue is that the circle people should be focusing on their games and they are now going to be flooded with other games to play. Also, they probably aren’t going to be able to finish all 15 pit games before the end of the month so the people they do play get a leg up on the rest. That said, I’m ok with it.
Circle people should definitely prioritize their Circle games, agreed. I’m not sure what to do (ever, really) with people who don’t complete their games. How to be fair? I don’t know. So far, in 2+ years of this league, no one has ever complained, though. Nice people!
In this format, people not finishing games quickly is a little more punishing to the innocents. In the normal league structure, you can usually blame yourself if you don’t get in all your games, even with slow players, because you could have challenged them from day 1 and you would have plenty of time to finish. When people are getting dropped into the pit on the last week of the month, they get bombarded with game requests from hungry pit-dwellers and it basically turns into a lottery for who can finish their games against the fresh blood.
To be clear, I don’t have a major problem with this as it stands, nor do I have a solution - just pointing out a potential issue to consider.

TimothyS over Dannimal 2-1 in a phenomenally tight three game stressinator. Last game decided by a single point. In a way I’m saddened that I’ll never know what The Pit smells like, but there’s always next month.

I had a great idea for how to modify the current structure for next month. Now I can’t wait!

Yup! But I know him (he’s my brother-in-law) and so I know that he’s been super occupied lately, which explains why he’s been fairly inactive.
