More June Playoffs
Tyjenks over Pacman +11 86-75.
In a game where I got Raj and Syril early and then PRIME and then the board came up monsters. So a game I felt comfortable with early proceeded to give me a tummy ache. Good game, Pac.
EDIT: And not to sound all defeatist, but myself, pacman, prolix and opkopk have a 4-way going that prolix seemed to have one after round 3.
This may be a bit premature, because I am still playing my best of 19 series versus annie peeps, but I have a 9-8 lead and have both Sexy Emri and PRIME early in what may be the final game. Assuming that I win [1], and given that I won a best of 19 versus ironcub as well, I award myself the Best of 19 Unicorn Award for Awesomeness and am seeking the next challenger!
If you want to attempt [2] to wrest the unicorn from me, you must be willing to exchange email addresses or phone numbers (for texting), so that we can more easily keep track of where we’re at [3]. Loser of each game makes the next challenge. I’d hope for lots of Immortal Heroes + Storm of Souls games, at least at first.
These games would be separate from the July league games.

BTW, My Playdek name is just “Wheeljack”. I already regret it being different from my username here, but c’est la vie.
I also feel like Hedron Rising / Fanatic is bugged. I feel like there are definitely times when I should have been able to use it, but I’m not given the opportunity.
While I’m complaining, If Playdek was going to update the app, I really wish they would have actually made human-usable modern menus. The menus are just a usability nightmare (let’s make 3 identical buttons, all of which read “____ Game”, then stack them in a completely arbitrary order!) It clearly isn’t an accident, since the new Playdek account login screen is nearly as bad.

IH requires entirely too much thinking. If it takes me longer than three seconds to play any one card, I get cranky. My mistakes will be myriad and colossal in July.

I’m in for 3, and will play with IH+SoS for most of my games. Blitz of invites coming at some point today.
One annoying thing I have found about the way the game handles invites now: you no longer need to agree to allow someone to put you on his friends list. What this means is that it’s possible to get invites from people who aren’t on YOUR friends list, and therefore, if you don’t his Rematch immediately afterwards, you won’t have an easy way to remember who challenged you.
I think it’s best to put everyone in the tournament on your friends list manually right away, rather than wait for invites.

All I can say is sorry for being a day late on the playoffs. I was certain I was out (and looked for my name in June towards the bottom) and then did a spit take when I saw I just barely squeaked in. I am assuming that challenges from other folks in the playoffs are for the playoffs and not the new July league, right?
Damn, maybe taking a month off did help after all.
Whoah…I totally did not realize they were both named Emri. Weird. Is there some in-fiction thing where he gets eaten by the Void or something?
One IH question: has anybody trired to use Two-fold Askara to duplicate a Wandering Askara? Do you get the opportunity to banish for an extra turn?

In other news of mistaken card identity, I only recently found out that the Seer of the Forked Path is a guy kneeling with two swords - and not some kind of mean-looking slug thing with a lion’s head.

Yep, the names in the puurrty charts are the GC names, and if somebody’s Playdek name is different from their GC name, then youd have that problem.

Found this from TA from a Playdek programmer:
The “old no account method” used your Game Center ID to identify you on our servers. We originally had a password login for Ascension before it launched, but switched to using Game Center because it was a convenience to the user, and it made implementation much easier on our end.
But now that is limiting some of the features we want to add. The obvious one is cross platform play. The second is that we won’t have to wait for GC authentication every time you launch the app (measure the time it takes to launch Agricola from a push notification to how long it takes in SW - there’s a noticeable difference). We’ll also be able to allow access to your account information through some means other than a Game Center enabled app (from any browser, for example). Most of these features are still being tested internally, but they are coming, so it might be awhile before the advantage are apparent.
We felt that Agricola was a big launch for us, and since we’d decided we needed to make the switch, it was the right time to do it, and now all of our other games will be updated to match.
It makes sense, but I wish they would have made an exception for Ascension since it will never have cross platform play and it’s only going to be around through the end of 2014.
