Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Formerly 'Victory'

The little touches of detail are just fantastic. It’s Autumn so leaves are falling and changing color, hence carts of leaves to do leaps of faith in. Its the mid-1800’s , horses everywhere, horse poop on the streets! It is England, raining and foggy, so its perfect the dev’s used the fog as a draw distance cheat.

I had to make a call on this as I want to finish Syndicate before Origins comes out next week, and decided not to collect any more unless they are right at my feet. I looked it up online and wow that is one ugly ass outfit. I’d of been pissed if I spent 4-5 hours collecting them all for that kind of reward.

All boroughs are mine, I noticed a rift opened up recently on the map, sad it TOLD me where it would take me. I think I might do it after the main story, unless someone thinks its ok to do now?

Also did anyone notice that Sequence 8 missions can be played at the same time as Sequence 6 missions? Almost done with sequence 6, along with most side missions, other than a few dreadful crimes and a Dickens mission or two.

I have much regret not playing this sooner, I have owned the gold edition for at least a year now. It is so good. London looks amazing at dusk, I wish this game had time of day control. :)

I think the rifts are independent of the main story, so no need to wait.

(Apologies if I’m misrembering and this is terrible advice :)

I started it yesterday. Didn’t have the time to do more than a first sequence 3 mission afther the prologue, but so far, it’s just so beautiful. Just climbing around on the rooftops of London as an absolute pleasure.

London is lovely and Unity’s Paris was even lovelier I think. Hard to imagine how Origins is going to compete :)

I think they’ve got it covered.

Ubi artists did a fantastic job of recreating locations of Ancient Egypt under Roman rule. Saw these over on nGAF, from the Ubi community manager.[/quote]

Frankly, I’m having trouble believing you guys that they managed to make industrial age London look pretty. Wasn’t that supposed to be a pollution-infested stink hole? Did they sanitize it for Assassin’s Creed and make it look all clean and wonderful? Or is there sort of a perverted beauty to the grimy polluted city?

I think sequence 8 is DLC but not positive. It’s one of my favorite parts of the game. Along with the rift. That you want to go to now. Because it’s spectacular. It’s a couple of more gameplay hours and doesn’t really spoil anything. Well maybe a little. Ok maybe wait on it 😃

Edit: stop making me want to play this for a sixth time

Are we at the point where we can discuss Syndicate’s little “interlude” openly yet? I did find that to be a nice little surprise kind of tucked away in the middle of the game, that was something they hadn’t really done before with the series.

I know what you are referring to, but I haven’t done it yet. So no.
Or use spoiler tags. :p

All right, I’ll check in again next year.

Oh they did an awesome job, I almost don’t want to have it end. I am guessing I have 10 hours or less of content, its already making me sad.

PICS:

Summary

1

I’ve played some Syndicate, and they did sanitize some stuff for modern audiences–I didn’t see big steaming horse dumps all over the place, which would have been everywhere in the real London of the period. Also, did London have sewers by then?

There is one thing in there that would be a spoiler if @lordkosc hasn’t seen certain main cutscenes in the game yet. Sadly I can’t recall when those main scenes pop up. I know it’s all over the ending but spoiler spoiler spoiler :)

OK, so it looks like the first parts of the modern sew(er)age system were operational by 1870. That’s around the time the game’s action begins, IIRC.

And I have come across some sewer areas, but the whole city is not linked.

And for the record, there ARE horse dumps on the road. Perhaps its a ULTRA graphics setting? :D

Maybe I wasn’t paying attention, or I wasn’t “privileged” enough to see them with the graphics setting I was using.
BTW, fun fact: the custom of having the perfume section be the first thing you encounter when entering a department store? Supposedly pioneered by Selfridge’s in London to counter the “aroma” of horse dung on people’s shoes/boots.

There are only tiny sewer sections, and they’re all under construction, accurate.

And yeah, there are horse dumps on the roads.
