I thought the members of this board would definitely be into this film.

We saw it some time in the last year or two. Very cool (imo). Most of the movie is set in a futuristic battle sim video game with a very built up fanbase/culture. The main character is a sexy blonde woman by the name of Ash. She lives alone with a dog and happens to be one of the best players of the game. I believe she goes ‘online’ as male, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen this, so I could be talking out of my ass here. :p

The art design is fantastic-- most of the frames were worked over to be of a consistant sepia tone and only certain things are in vibrant color. Fire/explosion effects are neat (and very video game-y).

Anyway, if you have an all-regions DVD player, check this one out.

Blonde? She has black hair, wtih a white streak (‘ash’).

It’s a pretty movie, and the dog is awesome.

Oops, my bad. I think I must be thinking of Parasite Eve (why, I have absolutely no idea). :)

Yeah, live action Oshii. I really wanted to see this movie, but a R1 release has never materialized. I’ve seen a DVD rip online but it had French subs which wasn’t much help for me.
