Hey, why don’t we have avatars on this board? I find them useful for scanning for posts – faster than reading names, and they’re another thing that allows us to provide some optional character to ourselves besides lots of horrible emoticons.
Cause Avatars are for pussies? Next you’ll be wanting huge signatures that list your system specs. the contents of your game colection, your resume and a huge graphics you made yourself in Paint Brush, featuring your ugly face.

I was going to add my “no” vote, but I do not believe there is a better arguement for their avoidance than this post.
I would put my vote in as “no” too. Of course if avatars were enabled, I’m sure an option would be available to disable them if someone didn’t want to see any avatars or personal sigs.
For the love of all that’s holy, NO NEVER. Besides, we’d all wind up with avatars using Cleve’s golden baby, which would defeat the original purpose of convenient identification.
