How do you know what his posting is like if you’ve had him on ignore forever?

People keep quoting him.

Only that’s not actually what he said.

Okay, okay, let’s not all gang up on nlanza. He’s got a right to try to ignore whatever upsets him. I… I don’t think any of us feel very clever right now. :(

Sure, but it’s a bad-touch kind of love.

This might prove useful.

I’m using it right now in Chrome and it works flawlessly. No tricky configuration either, just click install and it automatically picks up your ignore list and starts doing its thing.

THANK YOU! Now he’s gone, completely. Fuck yes, this is awesome…

Sweet, I’ve wanted one for Chrome. Thanks.

My God. We have some delicate desert flowers on this board.

Not really. Why would I want to waste time reading posts from someone who never contributes anything of value, ever? It makes my experience here better to not read his inane drivel.

The ignore feature is perfectly sufficient for that. You’re going the extra step & cutting his words out of a quote that somebody is quoting for a reason. You’re intentionally cutting out part of the conversation because his words so enrage you. I hate to say it, but that’s pathetic.

And now I don’t even have to see when people quote him. THIS is what the ignore feature should be - if I want to ignore someone, they need to go away. Completely.

And his words don’t enrage me - they annoy me. There’s a difference.

The expurgated version. The one without the gannet.

Now someone needs a script that allows people to ignore entire threads. That’d save so many people so much time they spend coming into threads they don’t like to let everyone know how much they don’t like those threads.

Someone should create a script that just brings up a youtube clip of your favorite video instead of the forum. Then everyone would be happy.

Firefox plug-in for this:

I have all the sports threads shitting up EE on ignore.

They’re not going away, Warren. They’re still there. If somebody’s posts are a waste of time, I totally get why you’d want to ignore him. Hell, I had Dirt on ignore before he got banned. But if Dirt was quoted, his useless words suddenly became relevant; he was an integrated part of the conversation. I never wanted to stick my head in the sand & pretend that Dirt didn’t exist; that would be pathological. I just didn’t want to waste time on something irrelevant.

And his words don’t enrage me - they annoy me. There’s a difference.

One word is unflattering, the other is more-or-less neutral. That’s the main difference in this context.

If someone so enrages you (alternately, if someone so annoys you) that you want to erase their words from your consciousness & never see them again in any fashion at any level, there’s something wrong with you. Despite how that sounds, I don’t mean that in an insulting way. You (and anyone else that has that urge) needs to look at why the person enrages/annoys you to that degree, and learn to deal with the root problem.

Or the other person could just be an asshole.

I mean, sure, we could all work hard to better ourselves and rise above the baiting and trolls, but why bother?

Sometimes you kinda want to get away from the life lessons and just talk about beer and video games with a nice bunch of people.

Trolls try to ruin that and somehow you’re turning that into Warren’s fault?

Pomposity ruins it.
