Brad has said some plain crazy shit. There was one incident where I believe he was quoted elsewhere as saying something along the lines of ‘he would try not to sell games to liberals’. That got posted and discussed here and Brad came in to defend his wing nuttery.
Brad however learned to keep his mouth shut and keep P&R and games well separated. Matthew on the other hand didn’t and would snipe at Brad every chance he got. Running off developers, even the kooky ones, does not have to be QT3’s national past time.
What Matt has been doing with some game threads goes beyond just making fun of them and reeks of a vendetta against the developers.
I’m guessing Tom just wasn’t actively reading that thread.
Yes. Brad’s very much about the idea that the political ideology of a person in charge of making important decisions for a company should not affect how you view that company, since you should not punish the employees of that company who need their jobs simply because you disagree with the views of the bigwigs.
Unless we’re talking about UPS. Then it doesn’t count. You should hold shit against them like a motherfucker.

Was that it? I never pay much attention to that type of thread so I maybe I was way off with the no games to liberals business. Brad was going to cut off UPS for some reason possibly related to liberals?
Regardless, Brad keeps the threads he creates to support his games free of his more colourful beliefs. It’s sad that other people had to keep dragging that shit back into them.
That is the tip of the crazy iceberg.

No doubt, but my point still stands. If Brad starts another P&R thread by all means fire away. The same goes for DVG. But when a developer with odd ideas starts a thread purely to support their game, try to keep your opinion of their politics from clouding your opinion of their game. Gallant didn’t even approach trying.
So, you’re saying he’s been more of a Matthew Goofus…?

Selective perception is a hell of a drug.
Uh, the actual problem was not adding anything to the discussion and continuing to shit all over the thread. I don’t think it’s too much to ask, for the sake of people who do want to discuss the game (and its faults), that the Pee Wee Herman “I know you are but what am I?” antics be kept to a minimum.

Not singling anyone out, honestly, as I think this goes on quite a bit here and there…
I had a big ol’ theory typed out about motivations and some sort of skewed idea that the attacker is serving some sort of greater good in demeaning someone with views that are subjectively viewed as having a negative influence on society as a whole…or something.
Then I realized it made a lot more sense in my head than when I put my virtual pen to paper.
Because everyone other post in that thread was adding to the discussion.
Edit: Or in any thread, for that matter.

Disliking the way Brad Wardell lied about the launch problems with Demigod, blaming them all on Gas Powered Games, is not a political issue.

That’s an interesting view of the way Brad presented the problems with Demigod. I don’t recall a great deal of blame being aimed at GPG.
I do think your post shows that Matt’s “I’m just doing what everyone else is doing” excuse is the bullshit everyone said it was. He has a personal vendetta against the guy and no-one cares if it’s a justified one.
Dude, kerzain posts more worthwhile reads than you these days. See the Elemental gameplay thread in which kerzain was the only one actually helping anyone play the game for some time.

It’s pretty easy to criticize a game or a developer without being a dick about it.
Even kerzain doesn’t like being compared to Zylon.
Why is this still being debated? That’s been posted at the top of the games forum since the beginning of time. Like it or not Tom has stated quite clearly that he’ll be a little extra protective of people who work in the games industry so they keep posting here. Everyone should know that and Mr. Gallant broke the rule repeatedly. Whether or not it was a minor infraction or really about something else or whatever, it’s still breaking the rules.
