Speaking for myself, I’m sometimes a little fuzzy on what brings down the banhammer, but since I try not to dance along that fine line it usually doesn’t affect me. (More often I’m surprised by what people get away with, even stuff that’s been reported.)

Again, speaking for me, even if Tom makes a different decision than I would have made in a given instance, he’s not a Forum Operations Robot. I know from my own experience that no one can be perfectly consistent 100 percent of the time, nor can anyone please everyone 100 percent of the time.

Besides, it’s access to a fucking Internet forum. Tom is not deciding who will and won’t get live-saving medicine. It’s hardly worth getting worked up over.

Oh my god it’s the internet. Everyone cares about things that don’t matter. When you put yourself in charge of something, people are going to bitch. You could be a god damn saint and people will find something to nitpick. I’ve been there. It happens. This thread, in particular, is the place to do that when ban decisions come down. I get that every now and again people want to come in here and be like “EVERYTHING TOM SAYS AND DOES IS RIGHT” but for the most part this is the thread where you come in to be like “what the fuck just happened?” and kvetch about it. I don’t click on the Supernatural thread every time it gets bumped to post how stupid that show is* just like I tend to avoid P&R when St. Gabe shows up because christ. I hate that guy. But complaining that people in here are nitpicking Tom and that’s wrong is retarded. This is the thread where people nitpick Tom and Tom shows up sometimes to debate it, which is cool. If you don’t want to see people questioning the decisions of recent bans, don’t click on the god damn thread.

I’m not denying him the right to disagree; that’s absurd. I do deny him the right to disagree with Tom ON MY BEHALF. He bitches as if he is making a public speech, boldly bitching on behalf of a silent majority, who if not for the fear of retribution from Despot Tom would be bitching, too, as if someone had appointed him the Boss of the Poster’s Union, and Tom were management: “In that regard I’m not any different than anyone else around here” and such.

But maybe some of the people he presumes to speak for (at least one in this thread) are being silent because we either agree with the decision or we don’t give a shit – which are both perfectly valid ways one can not disagree with a decision. If Tom decides to alter the color scheme of the boards to be more of a green color than a blue, I wouldn’t agree with it or disagree… I just wouldn’t care.

If Cory were speaking only for himself, and not pretending to speak for others, I’d be fine with that. I’d still disagree with him about whether or not the board is being run well or not, because I think Tom’s doing just fine.
