See, this is what I’m talking about. No creativity, nothing particularly abrasive, nothing that gets mah hackles up. If you’re going to steal Adree’s thing, at least take the time to do it right, rather than padding it out with ineffective text. The man knows a picture speaks FOR him.
Apologies to anyone who gets offended.
I for one am offended by the misspelling of
Actually there’s a great bit in Louis CK’s tv-show about the use of that particular word in comedy.

See, this is what happens when you let teenagers in a forum. They always think they’ve come up with some new insult, but it’s nothing we didn’t see years ago on usenet.
I kinda take offense when one guy is arguing in bad faith, most posters still try to engage him with real debate, a few break one of the forum rules and Tom enters with a “you guys stop bothering the troll”.
Please take this crap to another thread. Or better yet, just stop.

No! I am not Prince Hamlet, nor was meant to be;
Am an attendant lord, one that will do
To swell a progress, start a scene or two,
Advise the prince; no doubt, an easy tool,
Deferential, glad to be of use,
Politic, cautious, and meticulous;
Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous—
Almost, at times, the Fool.
Why would anyone get offended? It’s just a word. There are no boundaries when it comes to words unless it’s a crude word for female genitalia. Qt3 is a glorious place where all slurs are welcome, unless they’re directed at a dev.

That’s the part that drives me nuts. Tom seems to like “creative trolling”, but that only works if you’re gonna actually monitor the conversation to see that it doesn’t get out of hand.
Instead, a troll pops out of the woodwork, people get upset, and then the folks who went a little too far when upset are in trouble. It’s like telling your kids that they only get in trouble for hitting BACK; it just won’t end well.
Indeed. Also, it’s a place where context matters.
That’s what I said - directed at a dev.

Going back to the whole Spatzi thing, do you know what blows my mind the most? Bahimiron and I were originally given a month long ban, while Spatzi was given a week long one.
That’s right, poke a prejudiced xenophobe and you get a month long ban, but actually be one and you get a slap on the wrist and told that some of that stuff is kind of uncool.
Yeah…

I think I need a couple of tthings explained, as I am not entirely awake yet.
How can you tell that Octnoo or the person in the picture is a homosexual?
Why is it that said homosexuals need to be “raped in the face?”

I personally think you drama queens are worse than Hitler.
Yeah.

Ah, the irony of that Lynch post.
p.s. As an obvious alt, you should know better. This is the thread for forum drama.

Some interesting questions to be sure and it is natural to wonder why in this fiscal year of 2011 they need to be asked.
Here’s an outline of my theory on these particular chestnuts:
-
Someone says/posts/displays something or acts in a way that irritates another party.
-
In the general population of said “party,” there exists those who coincidently already view homosexuality (and by extension, homosexuals) as “bad” and thus worthy of derision.
-
In order to “get back” at the original someone via the path of least resistance, the latent dislike of homosexuals comes to the fore.
-
Consequently, homosexual slurs are then relayed.
-
HAW! HAW! HAW!
-
Additionally, since to these people homosexuals are a prime example of ridicule, it follows that they are also worthy of having violence perpetrated on them, such as rape.
-
HAW! HAW! HAW!
-
Now, if one were to protest this behavior, claims are often made of the aforementioned slurs as being simply just “words” and the like and one should never be offended.
-
The evidence, however, is to the contrary in regards to this particular dodge as one can simply say/post/display an innocuous word such as, oh I don’t know, “wine” thereby inducing fits of apoplexy across the spectrum.
-
This makes the case of wine connoisseurship and homophobia being directly linked (although to be fair, this is personal speculation only yet the scientific data is rapidly accumulating…).
