I have disagreed with Tom and come out of it okay. That’s happened more than one time, I’m sure.

I don’t think it’s disagreement so much as it’s an unwillingness to conceded to his authority. Sometimes people say no. It’s not unreasonable to say no or to be unwilling to engage repeatedly on the same points.

Really? I sure haven’t noticed it. To me it seems Tom’s a magnate for flack because of his position of owning the site. Stuff that if anybody else said would sail right by gets jumped on because Tom said it.

Fuckin magnates. How do they work? Also, fuckin flak.

Damn it!

People get banned nearly by the hour on somethingawful.com. And god help you if you dare say “gee, I wish fireball did more damage” on elitistjerks.com. There’s so much you can’t say on that site that I wouldn’t ever even want to ask a simple question.

So it could be worse. The pattern is set though, so act accordingly.

In other news, Teiman was banned. It might have been piracy-related, since he said something about Ubisoft breeding hackers to combat oppression. I’d like to think that it’s because he added nothing to any conversation here, but that’s not a bannable offense.

What? Teiman was great for bizarre quotes.

Teiman clearly didn’t heed the latest revision of the forum rules.

  • You must be 18 or older. Or you must at least successfully pretend to be 18 or older.
  • Don’t be too much of a jerk. Think of the other people in a thread as if they were in the same room with you.
  • Don’t drag in your baggage from another thread. This can be a tough balancing act, because how we interact is often related to what we know about each other. But dragging down a discussion with an argument you’re hashing out elsewhere or that you had six months ago isn’t welcome. Learn to have a polite discussion with a guy whose guts you might hate. It’s a valuable skill that will serve you well in real life (see the previous rule).
  • Do not post from a very deep gnome cavern, full of gold mechanics.

It’s right there in black and white.

My first thought was “who’s Teiman.” Then I googled his last post.

Now my second thought is “who’s hacked Tom’s account?”

Now that sounds like Teiman.

Teiman always sounded like a fake account to me. I mean, the guy continued to spell when as “wen” even after it was pointed out. It’s someone trying to sound foreign.

He had a Spanglish flavor to his posts.

Does the edit reason ever change if the post is re-edited by a mod? Because if it doesn’t, I guess that explains it.

Anyone know what image Tom deleted?

What’s the pattern, then? Why is it that Hans and Anaxagoras were banned? Why was kerzain’s animated gif deleted? What’s the lesson to learn?

Guys…I have little canteloupe-colored spots on my “down there.” I thought it wasn’t possible to catch anything from melons if you wash them first?

If I was to guess…

Roughly a third of Anax’s posts in a “search posts by Anaxogoras” result page were insults.

As for Hans, I’m assuming you mean Hans Lauring?

Agree. It’s so easy. Just head nod. You must not have ever worked in a corporate environment before. :)

I’m not referring to site-related issues here, I’m referring to the fact that more often than not Tom is a gigantic blue-veined dick to me whenever I disagree with him on a game or movie related issue. This phenomenon is, of course, hardly unique to me, although it’s less common than it once was. I don’t really care if Tom wants to delete gifs or ban regulars who pop off to him about site rules, but he is not a reasonable person in an argument. Hence the reason Lorini’s above advice is especially pertinent to the Qt3 situation.

You don’t even have to head nod. Just. let. it. go.

I can see why Tom might delete that animated image (well, not really), though, I thought his “Seriously?” comment was confusing since it wasn’t flagrantly offensive in any way. But, if he wants to remove the image, it has no impact whatsoever on me. I don’t understand why people always need to stir up shit about things that so inconsequential.

A few drops of lemon juice will take care of the most common…problems. You know what they say - no lemon, no melon.
