He shouldn’t be surprised at all, as he was temp-banned for a couple of days last week for using that very same c-word. That temp-ban would have been the slap on the wrist. To do it again, a week later, plus throwing in the n-word…well…the result is hardly unexpected.
Uhm, no, the post was clearly crafted to be offensive, but I didn’t report him. Whoever did report him probably has not reached adulthood yet and Qt3 would be better off should they be banned them self.
Unless no one reported it and Tom just does daily searches for the C-word, which would be really sad (but also funny).
Yup. He knew where the line was and decided to step across it again. That’s his choice…and that’s Tom’s choice to do what he did as well.
No, I think he was seriously pissed off that some asshole (you) made an insulting false equivalence and he was making a point to show how goddamn stupid that asshole (still you) was being by doing so. But clearly that doesn’t matter around here; you can be as big a fuckhead as you want as long as you watch the language.

Whether you like it or not, the line has been clearly drawn. This isn’t our house, we are guests, and if the host says not to do or say certain things, don’t do them or leave. Or get kicked out. I’m okay with that.
The post was crafted to be insulting, but he shouldn’t have been banned for it, so I think we are in agreement. (You fucking shithead god damn stupid asshole! etc etc)
It was crafted to be insulting but only inasmuch as it exposed how insulting your post was. So yeah.

In P&R that applies to everyone, though.
And is there anything wrong with watching the language?

Some of y’all can be real assholes.
Why? This is a forum of adults, 18+ and up. I am offended by intent and meaning, not by words.
I’m familiar with this argument but it is a little strange to not see it prefaced with the traditional bong hit.
I enjoy the forum better when people behave like adults. When people insist on strewing offensive words – and there are words that some of us find offensive – it makes the forum a less enjoyable place.
I’m not against profanity, but if the moderator makes it clear that certain things are unacceptable, isn’t it the mature thing to do to abide by that rule?
Would it make you feel better if I took a big swig from my beer?
You know what makes the forum a less enjoyable place to me? NoWayJose. He offends me more than any word or image ever could. But I’m realistic, and acknowledge that just because someone or something offends me, I can’t have any expectation others will agree and I’ll just have to learn to live with it. Like an adult.
Now, Tom can have whatever arbitrary rules and such that he wants, if he wants to ban people from saying “Ferschliggin” because someone’s wife fainted when she saw it, hey, that’s his prerogative. But personally, I think it’d be far more mature to consider the intent behind words. NOOU did not intend his remark to be racist and misogynistic, he was using those words to make a point. And if he got a permaban, that’s really disappointing.
I am just going to fall back on the old argument that it’s really easy to not be offensive and still get your message across.
Adults know that some words, however you might intend them to come across, are loaded.
BJB can say what he wants to me. I am a big boy, I can handle it.
Adults don’t think of themselves as schoolmarms who need to protect a community from bad words.
A quick survey of almost the whole world shows this to not really be true. I prefer that “adults” stick to moderately civilized language, but I also recognize there’s not much I can do if people insist on making fools of themselves.
It’s hilarious that you think it’s just about words in the abstract.
