That’s fine, you can think it’s unfair. I was pretty clearly expressing my personal opinion and I don’t have any real expectation of anything changing based on my preferences, I just wanted to throw it in there.

I know some people take legitimate offense to the word for whatever reason, but the amount of outrage expressed strikes me as being over the top. After all, both on this forum and definitely in the gamer culture in general are pretty liberal with using “pussy” in a derogatory way and it’s referring to the same thing. Perhaps I’ve seen too many girls, and I use that term deliberately, use it as a “get out of being in the wrong for verbally abusing someone else” card. The outrage frequently, but not always, feels manufactured to me, partially because people often insist that any use of it is equally offensive no matter what the context is. Consider me closer to the Brits in this case, I guess, I just fail to see what is gained by getting wound up over a perfectly satisfactory swear word.

For what it’s worth, I have no problem no longer using images that contain swearing even though that means no more singing shark. I don’t want to get anyone fired.

You just can’t leave it alone, can you?

See the difference between me and you Tom, is that I would have replaced the offending word with “Dave Markell” instead of “Tapir”

But! Wait, but … awwww man.

I love that shark.

Also, I’d like to point out that the Deadwood threads are ruined until you change it back:

I think the substitution should actually just slap an img tag embed in its place. For instance:

He looks mighty uncomfortable being surrounded by all those trollopy s.

Disagree. It’s censorship. When some damn comedian replies to “please don’t say strawberry licorice as it’s offensive to both fruit and candy” with a giant NSFW picture of a soaking wet package of twizzlers drooling viscous red goo he should be dealt with individually. But that’s just my opinion, and it’s not my living room.

Depending on who’s doing it, censorship can be a good thing.

I am torn on this issue…

Censorship = Bad

but…

Tapir = Good.

BLAST!

Maybe stusser can default everyone to see everyone else as an ignore, then each post get’s a rating, PG, PG-13, R and people can decide for themselves whether they want to read that post or not.

Man, you guys are hyped about this. It’s just a cooldown period.

(I’m concerned the vetting process might miss this issue when Tom accepts the GOP VP nomination, and then it will blow up everywhere.)

This comes as no surprise, because you are a peccary.

I only wish we could replace MFer with hippopotamus and CSer with rhinocerous in real life. Deadwood would be a safari of good times.

Not the silliest thing in qt3’s history by any measure, but it sure ranks up there.

And if you’re waiting for the internet to grow up…well, don’t hold your breath.

I giggled like a tapir when I saw that picture!

Here’s an insanely cute baby one:

Huh – so it’s some kind of a deerpig. God/FSM/prime mover/natural selection was running low on ideas by the time he/she/it got to the peccary.

So let me get this straight. No one has been banned and all this is because Tom has exercised his rights and asked for cooperation regarding one word?

This all seems like road that has been previously covered.

Rollory (who participated in the use of the c word) is MIA.

Please, continue to keep us up to date on the horrible fates of people who offend you, Lorini. Is this the second or the third time you’ve done so? I remember considerable crowing about what happened to Demon.
