There is a limited form of deckbuilding in duels 2012. Each fully unlocked deck has 75 cards (78 with expansion) and you can create any deck out of them that has a minimum of 60 cards.

I bought my DeathAdder 2 ago and am still very happy with it!

Got the Razer Arctosa keyboard a while ago too and that’s still going strong too… So not sure what the problem with Razer stuff might be. But then these experiences are all anecdotal anyway!

Is it? I remember joining up at the start of its life and it was ridiculously cheap. With half of the people there being EQ players looking for loot cards, if you were lucky enough to get one or two in boosters you could trade them for all the cards you could ever want.

Well, there are certain players still looking for loot cards (like, on my server there’s this one guy I see spamming general every day for a dragon mount), but with the introduction of the Sony Store, there hasn’t been much need for any of the loot available in the CCG – as most of it is duplicated and available in the store, save for certain specific cosmetic upgrades for weapons and the like.

Also, Sony has been giving free booster packs every month for the last three or four years (none of the cards you get from these can ever be traded however), whether you have an active EQ subscription or not. So if you haven’t logged in in a while you might find yourself with 40+ boosters to open. This constitutes cheap compared to how I remember it years ago. There have been something like 7 or 8 expansions too, so you can apply your ree boosters to those as well, with no extra purchases required (which is good, because certain old cards are no longer useful). These free cards can help keep you competitive, but you’ll still have to buy boosters to get the uber rare powerful cards, or luck out in one of your own non-tradable boosters.

I guess what was cost prohibitive for me was being forced to buy boosters in the first place looking for loot cards in order to trade, and never finding any thing. This is what has always turned me off CCGs, knowing I’d have to luck out or dump a wallet full of cash to be competitive.

It’s a great game though, but I just can’t compete with the folks buying boosters in bulk, nor would I want to.

Reading so much of Tom’s crap on the front pages finally convinced me to pick up Dead Island.

Bargain thread relation: it’s still $40 on Amazon for the download and $50 everywhere else. Except for GMG. I didn’t check GMG, and I’m afraid to now, since it will probably be like $6 or something :\

Woah. I totally forgot about Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble. But for 5 bucks on Steam’s daily deal, I went for it!

I also picked it up. Seems pretty neat so far.

$49.95, BUT you can trade it in when you’re done with it so unless you plan to keep it forever then the real cost over time could be significantly less.

I’ll trade every tradable card I have for any decent loots any of you want to get rid of, especially the rares of the mcdonalds monopoly style collect 3 bunches or mounts.

I’m talking literally thousands, even more locked…

me too!

Oh my god, don’t buy the $17.99 bundle copy of Magic: The Gathering from Steam. I know some folks already suggested this because of the fact it makes the campaign redundant, but my reasoning is this: The foil cards ARE TERRIBLY DISTRACTING. They are so, so, so horribly done they are completely instrusive and a pain to actually look at. Save yourselves.

They’re literally a game-breaker for me, and I can’t find any info on how to disable them.

Gamefly is having a pretty huge sale right now on their used games.

Got Fallout NV and Vanquish for $20 total. Very nice.

I don’t believe this has been posted, yet, but Amazon is offering download versions of Strategy First titles at 70-80% off this week. Notable deals are The Jagged Bundle for $3.99 and Disciples II: Gold Edition for $1.99.

Is this true? The site is down now so I can’t check, but typically you can’t return Steamworks games (for obvious reasons).

It is not true with DE:HR, which is also a Steamworks game. I am almost certain that any Steamworks game cannot be traded in to GMG.

Edit: Looking at Dead Island’s page, it explicitly says that it cannot be traded in to GMG.

Non-members may be disappointed. GF no longer has universal free shipping during the sales, and the prices are higher. Ex: Vanquish is $17.99 with no free shipping.

New from Amazon is competitive with that price.

Interesting … you can trade in digital copies of games? That almost seems like science fiction. :)

There are some pretty good deals there. There are also a bunch of games I’ve never even heard of on that sale, and I thought I was familiar with most Strategy First titles.

One more opinion on Razer products : I’ve had an Arcosta keyboard and Death Adder mouse for over a year now and LOVE them. I have had zero issues with wear despite fairly heavy use not just in gaming but form all my other family members (including kids) using the PC for everyday stuff. I would defintely purchase a Razer product again in the future.

My Razer experience has been with the Naga MMO mouse, which I’ve had for a year and has worked well for me for both MMO play and weapon-switching in FPS games. The mini-keypad on the side takes a bit of getting used to but it’s great once it becomes second nature.

My only gripe is that across 2 machines, 2 OSes, and at least one firmware update, it won’t be recognized after a reboot, requiring that it be unplugged and re-plugged to use. A small gripe that hasn’t led to its being replaced.

Magicka for $2.50. Steamworks, so you just get the key and register it.
