I’m with Warning and reckon Anniversary is the better choice. But then I prefer exploring to shooting /action…

I actually preferred Underworld then Legend then Anniversary. I can’t quantify my reasoning at all, though. I have no idea why I prefer one of the other. I’ve spent too much time trying to figure out why I lean this way, and I think I’ll just drop it and go with what I like. Yep, no idea why.

Well… Underworld did have a giant octopus. Hard to beat that.

Not a sale, but Costume Quest is on Steam!

What is with Double Fine and stealth awesome on PC lately?

Is that DLC that it includes the same as the Christmas DLC from the console version?

Yes. There’s only one Costume Quest DLC and that’s the one that’s included.

Strategy First has a deal on the “Big 6” bundle (Ironclads High Seas, Patrician 3, Perimeter 2 New Earth, Sacred Gold, Tortuga Pirates Of The New World and Tortuga Two Treasures) for $9.99. Use the code “bigsix”, good until Oct 18th. I can’t post links, but it’s strategyfirst.com.

I have no idea if any of these games are any good.

The Big 6 Pack

This six pack intrigues me. Has anyone ever purchased SF games directly from them?

Steam Daily Deal for October 15th is The Last Remnant for $10 (75% off).

Last Remnant is pretty great. Well worth $10.

It’s also an extremely weird/odd game, even for a JRPG. So it’s probably worth reading up on it before taking the plunge and picking it up.

I heartily disagree. I found the writing abysmal, the characters unmemorable and unlikeable, and the mechanics questionable at best. Of course, I played it on 360 and I do recall hearing that the PC version fixes some technical issues, so that’s -something-. But still.

You just described every JRPG, ever!

No, really, Last Remnant is worse on all fronts. I like plenty of JRPGs. Last Remnant just isn’t one of them.

Agreed. And also the developers have a habit of chaining long battles one after another without the option to save in between. So if you lose a boss battle, you’re sent back facing a tedious 45 minute battle with the minions before getting another go at the boss.

I am halfway through the game and will drop it mostly because of this. Life’s too short to accept terrible design decisions.

I finished Last Remnant, yet I still only have a vague idea of how the battle system worked.

I feel the same way about Gratuitous Space Battles.
