Greenmangaming has DXHR for $30! It also has a number of preorders for $37 as someone above mentioned (including Batman, AC, etc.).

Anyone know if there is any functioning code for gmg?

So does Amazon, if you prefer that. It’s their Video Game Deal of the Week.

Video Game Deal of the Week for Americans. Greenman gaming is one of the best sties for not geographical price discrimination (although they are starting that trend with ea etc.).

In fact GMG sometimes discriminate the other way around.

A couple weeks ago the FM2012 pic had a big banner proclaiming “UP TO 40% OFF!” But if you were in America that turned out to be 0% off.

I guess that’s technically “up to” 40%, but it was still annoying.

Then I remembered the days when I had to buy Steam games with Queen Bucks and suffer the silly price disparity and decided not to moan too much.

There are other countries!!! (Which is to say, ah, my bad, didn’t know…)

Testify brother. Still waiting for a deal on it myself.

SPAZ is only $15 full price. Jesus, people.

Right? For the amount of gameplay it provides, it’s a steal at twice the price.

Just got Dead Space 2 for $8 on Origin thanks to the origin60 code.

Also just played The Stanley Parable, which the Giant Bomb guys were talking about back in August (I’m way behind on my podcasts). It’s free (which is a bargain), and now you don’t need HL2 to run it, you just have to download the Source SDK.

Big thumbs up for Stanley, and it takes about an hour to play.

You’re right of course. Tom’s interview with the creators of the game + having played the demo has me really psyched to buy it. Problem is, I have such a huge backlog that it really makes more sense to work on that for a while and wait for a sale.

More than I want to pay. I’m not saying it’s over priced. But it’s more than I want to pay, so I’m waiting for a sale.

Games are becoming too much of a commodity for me to want to pay even $15 for them anymore just to try them out and get a few hours out of them. I liked Atom Zombie Smasher, but it wouldn’t have been worth $15 to me.

I won’t go into the “why is $15 magically ‘good enough’” debate.

Also, what Papageno said.

So it’s the Bargain Thread. Someone find it on sale and relay that information to me. :)

So the ORIGIN60 60% off code applies to the 800 Bioware point item. Which is great - I was wanting Lair of the Shadow Broker. Are either of the Dragon Age 2 DLCs worth it at 60% off? What about Awakening?

OnLive is selling any game for $1 for new accounts (or accounts that haven’t purchased any games). Apparently existing accounts can get 98% off, but I don’t have any OnLive games so I can’t verify that.

Doesn’t work for pre-orders, and I guess it doesn’t work for their “play pack” games, which require a monthly fee. No idea when this expires.

Still, a pretty darn good deal. Deus Ex Human Revolution Augmented Edition? $1. Space Marine? $1. Borderlands GOTY? $1. Arkham Asylum? $1.

Now that’s what I call a deal. Who is OnLive anyway? I can’t keep up with all these new Steam thingies.

OnLive is the streaming service, so you never actually get a game. Instead you pay them $1 and get to play your game streamed to you over the internet. I don’t know if you also have to pay a monthly fee, but I’d suspect you do. (Otherwise $1 even as an unlimited demo of the service ain’t bad at all…)

You were right on the money. Do I even need to enunciate the expletives forming in my mouth to express my distaste? I think it’s funny that, much like Amazon’s Kindle, they can revoke access to games you’ve paid for – but unlike Amazon, I have no idea if OnLive would refund your money. Netflix revokes access to streamed shows all the time, but you only pay for membership, not for individual titles (yet).

At least they’re telling us when access to the game will be revoked, but, ugh.

(oh, and that client suuucks on the PC, the store browser is dreadful)

There’s no monthly fee for OnLive, although you can pay them a monthly fee for access to a set of games (I think that’s how it works). It’s true that the games are never actually installed on your machine; they stream your controls up and the video back down, which has advantages and disadvantages: you need to have a good, low-latency connection to their servers; but on the other hand you can play any game even if your machine normally wouldn’t meet the requirements (and, in fact, they have a set-top box you can get which doesn’t require you to have a computer at all).

And of course if they ever go belly-up you’ll lose everything.

Edit: Ok, I didn’t realize they reserved the right to start charging a monthly fee for games you’ve already purchased, that’s pretty weak. Or that they could remove games from their service. Still, $1…

I’ve said it before, and I really don’t look down on anybody that disagrees with my way of thinking here, but I’m the type of person who would rather pay more for less headaches. I don’t want to turn his whole thread into a debate about OnLive (I’m sure there’s another thread for that), but I’ll say this: I do not want to be forced to repeatedly go back and manage/monitor this membership of theirs.

I’d rather just install a base client, like Steam or Impulse, buy, install and update my games, then simply play them or forget them at my whim. All this extra baggage, possible subscription fees, rules subject to change, et cetera; It drives a lazy, easily agitated gamer like me away. I don’t think folks with my particular mindset are going to substantially impact their ability to do business, but they need to do a better job of explaining all the catches up front.

And, in case you can’t see it, apparently the normal price (without this promo) they charge for this game is $49.99, and still comes bundled with those potential limitations.
