While that’s up, does anyone know: If I got in on Microsoft’s 40% 12-month sales last year, when it auto-renews will it keep that same sale price? It seems like it, but the Live site is just vague enough to make me wonder if I should buy another 12-month card.

It will not keep the same price AFAIK.

More importantly, you should get your credit card off the auto-renew so you can make the account less attractive to hackers.

Anyone know if this can be applied to Skyrim? I added it as a pre-order on their website but the deal isn’t working. Wondering if they have pre-order boxes in-store…

Currently it does not qualify. When you view the game details, in the purchase screen, the games that qualify will say “buy two, get one free” under the title and price.

I’m still looking for a skyrim deal too. If I don’t find anything by monday, I guess I’ll get it for $54 at direct2drive or just pay full price on steam.

I did the D2D thing (had an additional 15% discount coupon there that stacked with the standard 10% pre-order discount), but from my understanding, and this is in no way proof of anything beyond mere rumor and speculation, people who buy from Steam direct will be able to pre-load and play earlier than the rest of us.

Based on my past experiences with D2D Steamworks games, they don’t send out the reg codes until an hour or so after the games I’ve purchased have been live on Steam.

None of this bothers me, but I don’t know how you’ll feel about it, so there you go.

Sorry, I phrased the question poorly. Since Crater was able to get BF3 with the deal even though it doesn’t qualify online either, I’m wondering if they have in-store preorder boxes for Skyrim. If I head to Target later I’ll post my findings.

I also see Steam has a weekend deal with the Tropico series which I am guessing ties in with the Tropico 4 DLC.

Still don’t think I’m willing to pay the money for Tropico 4 yet even at 33% off. The DLC looks fairly lame too.

They actually sent out codes for Rage and Brink a couple days in advance.

Awesome, so there is some hope that they don’t consistently dick over customers in this regard.

I just looked it up.

Brink D2D code arrived: 5/6 9:30PM
Brink Unlocked: 5/10 12:00AM ET

Rage D2D code arrived: 9/30 9:30PM ET
Rage Unlocked: 10/4 12:00AM ET

This is no guarantee that skyrim will work the same way, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

Should I expect an email from D2D with my code, or do I need to keep checking my account? This is the first time I’ve ever used them for a preorder.

If I remember right it didn’t send me the emails till I clicked the download/code buttons on my account/games page at D2D. But I was so on top of the ball for the last couple pre-orders that I was pretty much clicking them when they went live, so I’m not sure if an independent email goes out for unclaimed, but active, pre-order-turned-live games, in addition to the triggered one that sends Steam codes when the button is clicked. I never got one to my knowledge.

Steam has the Geneforge series for $15.99 till Nov. 9th. A bit old school but has some decent press. I haven’t played any but might support an indie developer on this one.

Gamersgate has total war weekend sale with discounts of up to 75% off

Gunstringer is $20 at Best Buy Friday and Saturday only.

GreenManGaming has Saints Row The Third for $34 using 15% off preorder coupon code PERFE-CTPRE-ORDER. Cheapest I’ve found elsewhere is Amazon for $40.

Hmm taking a long look at the Geneforge series on Steam. I only ever played the last one, and I didn’t even finish that. But that is a lot of gaming for 15.99.

Dammit. Like I need more games.

I bought Rage via D2D, and was able to download the Steam code from their site a couple of days before the game launched.
