GMG flushed themselves down the toilet in the last couple weeks. Between this whole fiasco with arkham city and saints row and then the paypal issues, I don’t think they’re going to survive much longer.

What Saints Row issue? I bought it from them last week and got the keycode yesterday afternoon. Plugged it into Steam and preloaded overnight. No problems.

Were there issues for some people?

I don’t know if they have updated it but Nehrim was bringing my PC to it’s knees, this is the same PC that is currently running Skyrim on high without any slowdowns at all. I had a blast while it lasted, but the extremely low FPS killed any enjoyment I had once I got outside.

It brings any machine to it’s knees. The modders made an amazing game, but they had no idea how to optimize for the Oblivion engine.

Same deal for me. I was happily stretching the sex appeal slider all the way to the right and shooting people while falling out of planes all last night. Bought it from GMG and stuck key in Steam.

Does the GamersGate version of Avadon activate on Steam so I can get the achievements?

Also, according to the Digital Distribution Dealsblog, Avadon is apparently scheduled going to go on sale for 75% off ($2.50) at Direct2Drive in two days.

No versions of Avadon sold anywhere other than Steam activate on Steam. Fair warning: Direct2Drive’s version of Avadon comes with nasty DRM that is not present in the direct sale version from Spiderweb nor in the Steam version, and it actually causes performance issues with the game that do not otherwise exist (it’s not a remotely demanding game, performance-wise). Vogel has in the past been willing to give you a registration key for the direct sale version because of this issue, but personally I’d rather just not give D2D money for crippling a great game.

Oh yeah the D2D version is unplayable. I had to mail Spiderweb, and they nicely gave me a key… But that’s a bit shitty for them to have to support D2D’s wonky DRMed version…

Don’t know about Gamersgate though.

They did one from 11/24/10 until 11/29/10 last year called “Steam Thanksgiving Sale” (Thursday Nov 25th was Thanksgiving last year).

I would keep an eye out for a Steam Sale beginning mid of next week and probably going until Monday morning.

I’ve always been kind of interested in this game. Is it very good, for what it is? I’m strangely into mundane machinery simulators. I wanted to try that back-hoe simulator as well…
