I see Shogun 2’s $15 at Direct2Drive. Is that a good deal?
According to the GamersGate FAQ:
How many times can I download and/or install my games?
Any game bought on GamersGate is yours to download and install as many times you like. Some games are protected with an activation limit, but that limit is easily reset with an email to support@gamersgate.com

Both of those are supposedly 30 something during black friday

I know entertainment is subjective, but if you won’t pay $5 for Just Cause 2 you are a bad gamer and a bad human being.
That’s not bad. It registers on steam. But maybe steam will have a better sale on the game soon. Who knows? At least you might be able to pick up the DLC cheaply then if you’ve already got the base game.
I’m sure that wasn’t directed at me, but since I raised the question, I’d like to point out that I already own JC2 for the 360. I was just trying to decide whether to get the PC version as well.

Not directed at you at all sir. I’ve heard the engine looks great on all 3 platforms. I use the mouse for on foot sections and switch to the 360 controller for driving. As great as Just Cause 2 is, it doesn’t handle keyboard driving very well.
We’re a week out from the Steam winter sale, right? Doesn’t it usually start on Black Friday?

No, last year it started December 20th.
I think he means the Thanksgiving Sale and that one started on Wednesday before the holiday last year and went on until the end of that week.
Guess it’s a good bet to keep a close eye at Steam next week Wednesday. :)
I held off buying a lot of indie games this year , waiting for the Turkey and Christmas Steam sales.
Sorry Indie Dev’s! :(
Ah, that’s right. I had completely forgotten that the Thanksgiving sale and the Winter sale were separate. I guess having 30 straight days of Steam sales would be a bit crazy. And dangerous.
Hmm I think Steam did run sales for 30 straight days last year…
Sounds good to me. I got it at 25 or so and don’t regret it.
I wonder why Vic didn’t put Armageddon Empires on the list?
Steam Daily Deal for November 18th is RUSH for $2.49 (50% off). “From the twisted puzzle minds behind the award winning Toki Tori.”
Steam weekend deal is Magicka for $2.49 (75% off) and it’s also free to play this weekend only. It recently was patched to add save checkpoints and other fixes.
But wait, there’s more! Bejeweled 3 is also a weekend deal and is going for $9.99 (50% off).
Not to be left out, GoG is offering the 1C catalogue on sale this weekend, 60% off each game. Titles include:
Fantasy Wars
King’s Bounty: The Legend
Space Rangers
Space Rangers 2: Dominators
Star Wolves
UFO: Afterlight
UFO: Aftermath
UFO: Aftershock
Space Rangers 2 is a great game, but do yourself a favor: get the Reboot version if you’re interested. It’s $10 on Steam, but the $6 difference is worth it. Of course, Steam will probably have it on sale again soon, it was $5 last time.

UFO: Afterlight is a decent RTS UFO knockoff, complete with (somewhat linear) geosphere, base-building and research. No terrain deformation though. :/
Aftermath and Aftershock are the earlier iterations and fine as well, but Afterlight is where the UI became actually usable.
I’ll put in a good word for GamersGate.
Similar to Good Old Games, when you’ve bought something it gets added to your game library and you can redownload or reinstall as many times as you like. There is no third-party software or client except for a small program which downloads the installation files and kicks off setup.exe (or whatever) when it is done.
You can even copy and back up the installation files if you don’t want to download again in the future (or are worried about them going out of business). I’ve stopped bothering as I find download speeds are generally better than Steam.
It’s not quite as nice as GOG in that some of the games come with DRM. On the other hand they have new games don’t add any extra DRM of their own, just what the publisher supplies.
The other positive for me is that they give 5% credit with their reward system so I’ll usually use GamersGate to gets serial keys for steamworks games and enjoy the extra discount.
The main downside is that the website is not as slick as Steam and you don’t get Team Fortress hats.
Yeah I enjoy GamersGate for the extra 5% as well. I was able to pick up the Din’s Curse expansion when it was on sale for $1 since I had about $4 in credits already.
