It’s a well-designed fantasy TBS that’s trapped in Civ4’s body. The AI has almost no clue how to play the game based on all the crazy powers and stuff that’s added (but to be fair it’s gotten better over time), plus the Civ4 interface is just not well-equipped for what FFH is trying to do. And like all the art is stolen from Guild Wars and Icewind Dale.
FFH is one of those games where it’s clearly good but, unless you invest a good amount of time groking it, you’ll struggle to find it fun. I didn’t have the patience, so while I respect the game, I don’t enjoy playing it.
Yes. Civ4 is the best Civ that doesn’t have “Alpha Centauri” in its title.

If, like me, you were waiting for the price on the Resistance 3 Doomsday pack price to drop you will be glad you did.
Best buy has the Mayhem pack, which has everything the Doomsday pack did PLUS Killzone 3 for $119!

Try the free demo, it’s an acquired taste. And wait until Monday to buy it! :) People seem to think one of the series will be included in the next “Indie Royale” thing coming up.
Eschalon 1 is even cheaper by the way. Supposedly 2 is more fun to play though.
Get this if you’ve not already, folks.
Ehhhhh. Kohan didn’t age well.
Thanks to Lord, Thither, Chris, James, and anyone else I might have missed. I went ahead and bit the bullet, went for broke, er, um pulled the trigger. I’ve been jones’ing for a game and I am quite bored. So, again thanks for the input.
I haven’t played Book II yet, but I finished Book I recently after buying both during the Steam Summer Sale (you can grab both for $8.75 currently on Steam). Book I was a lot of fun. A nice solo RPG (no party) that brought back a serious Ultima vibe mixed in with some Baldur’s Gate for good measure. I put 30+ hours into it, so I’d say I got my $8.75 worth just off the first game alone. I’m looking forward to Book II, which is by most accounts even better, but I needed a break between them, so I started The Witcher EE/DC. Dude, I’m loving that game as well but it’s a time investment for sure…
TLDR version : Buy an Eschalon game, you’ll enjoy it!
If you were thinking of picking up Origin’s Dragon Age II for $10 deal they’ve still got the deal running, but DA2 is no longer a part of it. They’ve replaced it with Dragon Age: Awakenings.

Just did.
Picked up Book II, 1024x768 is about as low as my eyes can hack anymore.
But an Ultima/Baldur’s Gate blend on any level I can’t pass on.
It sure was a quick download compared to other recent purchases lol.
Red Faction Armageddon for 7.50 USD at Gamestop/Impulse…

This may have been posted already but Darksiders is 4.99 over at Gamersgate and can be registered on Steam. Deal is on for another 8 days so lots of time but I doubt Steam will be able to beat that price.
I picked Civ4 up at the Xmas sale last year and have loved FFH2. Great combination of Civ goodness with terrific color. I’d held off on Civ4 earlier because it seemed a little souless but FFH2 doesn’t feel souless at all. The civs play very differently from each other, there are multiple strategies that feel distinct, and as I mentioned that is a lot of color and lore. FFH2 was taking all my gaming time until Skyrim arrived.
I think I saw Mass Effect 2 for $4.99 as a digital download on Amazon earlier today if anyone’s interested. If you are you might want to double check.
Looks pretty interesting so far but I’ve only spent a few minutes with it as I’ve used most of my time just downloading the main game and pack content, as well as the mod, patch, and some media content for the mod.
I wish I knew how to figure out if I’ve patched FFH2. I downloaded the patch “o” but I had some issues when I was executing it, and I am uncertain if it actually patched. I also had some weird pop up messages concerning minimum system requirements and invalid voice input, but I think I’ve those fixed now. Hopefully I can dig into the game this week.

Do any of the digital services have the ME2 DLC? Steam doesn’t and Origin doesn’t.
Speaking of Origin, they’re doing another half off sale. Pretty much the same sale they had on Friday. $25 for Batman, $30 for Battlefield 3 are the standouts.
No you can only get it from Bioware themselves.
You need to buy some “space bucks” (Bioware Points on cards) and use them to redeem the content.
Of course if you want all 3 story DLCs you will end up with 2 cards as there aren’t enough points on one for all of them.
This also means you will end up with extra “space bucks” you can’t use unless you buy Dragon Age DLC as well…
So far I’m too pissed off to buy those cards but probably will one day.
