I think the best deal on Amazon today isn’t any of the aforementioned games, but ARMA II: Combined Ops for $10. To alleviate any confusion, that’s ARMA II and the expansion, Operation Arrowhead. Not the DLC, not any older games. Those you’d need something like ARMA X: Anniversary Edition for. But the older games are cheap to begin with and the DLCs are not necessary until you’ve already exhausted the potential in the base setup. But man, that’s the lowest price I’ve ever seen on ARMA II, much less with the expansion. And you get a hell of a lot of game for that $10.

Rise of Flight - Iron Cross Edition is $35 on Amazon Downloads

Thanks for that. It’s a great collection of planes for the money.

Today is “Strategy Day” for Amazon downloads. That means:

Napoleon: Total War, Imperial Edition - $5
Total War: Shogun 2 - $10Grand Ages: Rome - $2

I recommend all three of these. Grand Ages is a neat little campaign-based city-builder with a more sophisticated military model than usual, and an engaging little-RPG lite thrown in (you build a character over the course of a campaign, and you can choose which missions (scenarios) you decide to tackle, working for various Roman families). Good stuff.

Napoleon is probably my favorite of the Total Wars. Very tight, very well-designed, and gorgeous. Ditto for Shogun 2, of course.

Me again!

gamersgate has started their holiday sale, mostly stuff from the Thanksgiving sale carried over, so far. Some quick highlights:

Civ V - $7.50
Battlefield 3 - $40
Mafia 2 - $10

Interesting. There is an Amazon offer on the page for this game.

It’s like they are paying you $3 to take the game.

The thing I don’t like about Gamersgate’s multi-week sales is that it’s hard to tell what actually changed from week to week. That might be deliberate, as it forces you to review the whole list again and maybe consider some other game again, but it’s still annoying.

What was the final call on Civ V? I avoided it at first because I was cheap and then later because it broke Tom’s heart.

But that’s a hell of a price.

Definitely worth that price, in my opinion. I think the main problem at release was the AI, and to be honest, I’m not sure how that’s coming along, but I’ve had a lot of fun with the game, and in my opinion it’s superceded IV (except there’s no Fall From Heaven for V).

I’m not sure if that edition on GG contains all the DLC, though, but that’s no big deal, imo.

Gray Matter is $11 on GG now, which is two bucks cheaper than I paid for it two days ago on Amazon!

Edit: Not going to lie. I got a chuckle out of the fact that Saints Row 2 is listed above Buggy on their sales list.

Depends how much you enjoyed 4 I guess. I found it terribly boring after having spent hundreds of hours on 4 and regret the time spent on 5.

Showing up as $34.65 for me???

Changed for me as well. Looks like time’s up on that sale!

Gray Matter is OK, but people itching for an adventure game should grab The Lost Crown for $9 (if you haven’t played it already). I’m a shill for that game :(

Dungeon Siege 3 is Steam’s daily deal, $20. The DLC is also $4, which means I’m going to buy it.

Steam also now has Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate, on sale for $14.99!

Wow! That is awesome :) Now if only my Impulse/Gamestop SN# would transfer to Steam.

Another spacey deal, GamersGate has all three Star Wolves games – which I enjoyed a lot – for $15!

Great deal, that, if you don’t have 'em already.

WAIT a second! If you buy the bundle with the DS3 and DLC together for the same price you get DS 1 and 2 for free! I just nabbed that for $24 and consider it a LOT better deal! (if you dont already have those two anyway)

That’s…actually tempting, I wasn’t really all that interested in DS3, but I still ought to check out the DS Ultima remakes and it’s hard to find the other DS titles (legitimately). It looks like the expansions aren’t included, though.
