Today’s Steam deal is Homefront for under eight bucks. I think the most enjoyable part of it is going to the page and seeing you can get just Homefront for eight bucks, the Prima Guide for $12.99 and both Homefront and the guide for nine and some change.

I don’t know, I just “bought” the free version that’s listed as a 921MB download. There’s also an undifferentiated free version that’s a 53MB download. I’m guessing one is the demo and the other is the full game. I have the full game queued for download.

The files just aren’t well labeled. The 53MB download is a video, I’m sure. I should’ve noticed the dashed line half of the Xbox controller, picture next to the download. That always denotes a demo. The “deal” was posted on Facebook by someone I trust to be game/tech savvy, so I didn’t investigate it very closely.

Need Christmas present bargain hunting help!

I’m getting my son some Xbox 360 (slim) accessories for Christmas. I’m looking at the following:

250GB Hard Drive for 360 Slim - best price found so far is $96 shipped from Amazon
Turtle Beach X12 headset - best price found so far is $55 shipped from Amazon
1600 Point Spacebucks card - best price so far is $20 shipped from Amazon

I’ve got about a week (till next Friday) to order these from wherever and insure they arrive in time for Christmas. If one doesn’t, it’s fine as his birthday is literally the day after Christmas, though we celebrate it New Year’s weekend to give the poor kid at least a week of separation between his gift hauls.

Anyway, if any Bargain Thread regulars happens to spot a deal on any of the above accessories in the next week or so, could you please post it here or shoot me a PM? The prices above are only a few buck off the norms, and every dollar I save is another dollar I can spend on games. Maybe even games for him… ;-)

Awesome find, thank you! Even if it’s 40% off at $60 it’s close enough to the price of the X12 that it would be worth buying. He loves MW3, so it would be a perfect gift. I’m on it!

EDIT : Bummer, only a 30% discount. At $70 they’re just over the line I’d be willing to pay. You can get the exact same headset minus the COD branding for $60, which is what I was hoping they’d mark it down to. Ah well, back to searching for better deals. Thanks again though!

It was the same or more. Amazon had it cheaper for download around that time though.

There’s no big rush at this point. Buy it when you’re ready to play it.

It adds some seriously over the top spells with a clever mechanic for acquiring them and a quest on the Astral plane. Check out YouTube for some of the craziest ones.

While the spells are spectacular, their effects sometimes don’t match their power. Download the overcharged version, or pair it with another mod that amplifies magic. And grab something to increase your maximum magicka as these spells can be sorta expensive.
