For anyone interested, The Saboteur (PC) is down to $6.99 today:

So apparently greenmangaming is gearing up for a big January sale: http://forums.greenmangaming.com/topic/1676/

An interesting strategy on their part. Instead of trying to compete with the steam sale, wait till it blows over and then lay it all out. On the one hand you won’t have to compete for attention, but on the other potential buyers may already have bought these on-sale games in december (or at the very least, their discretionary cash goes down).

Fair warning, this game does not play nice with ATI cards. The map was absolutely useless and I experienced lots of other glitches too.

A shame too, this concept had serious potential, IMO.

The map is in fact useless, but I thought that was a PC problem, not an ATI one? Regardless, you can find your objectives just fine still, and that was the only problem I experienced on my 4850. For 7 bucks, Saboteur is a LOT of gaming.

I played it on the 360, but I loved Saboteur. Great setting and concept and I found blowing things up very satisfying. Some of the gameplay is sub-par (the climbing in particular), but I still loved it.

They did have some of the best prices for new games in the last two weeks. Saint’s Row 3 for $20 and Lord of the Rings: War in the North for $12, beating Steam hands down. Plus a few more I can’t recall. They made good money in December. Bless them.

Why did this game never come to Steam? It’s not because the developers were in strife shortly after release, because EA owns the IP so they can do whatever they want. I assume if they wanted to they could release it on Steam anytime. Boggles the mind.

The truly egregious fake French accents of some of the characters were what bothered me. Jeez, do some people have a tin ear. In a AAA title like this one was it’s really inexcusable.

And don’t get me started on the fake Italian accent on Uncle Mario in Assassin’s Creed 2 (I’m presuming it was the same guy in Brotherhood, but I didn’t want my ears to bleed so I changed it before I started playing). Most of the time he sounded like Danny Trejo on a bad day. Thank God that game let you play with Italian voice acting and English subtitles.

I played through the game with my Radeon 5770 about two months ago and didn’t have any issues. It could come down to what drivers you’re using or some other factor, I’m not sure. I highly recommend it at the current sale price. It’s a great game.

It was patched to become ATI-safe. The PC version still has a borked map but is otherwise fine I believe. Or at least it was on my 5850. Comedy accents aside :)

In what way is the map borked in the PC version? I bought it before knowing this info… :-( Is it at least alt-Tab friendly so one can consult a map elsewhere?

The active icons (missions, mission goals, points of interest, shops) overlay doesn’t scale properly with the actual geographical map. In other words, nothing really is where it appears to be, including (I think) your own icon.

The minimap is fine, though, and you can still click on the icons to set GPS target to them - it’s just that the icons won’t be exactly where you expect them to be …

For $6.99 please get this game. I got it last time someone recommended it for the Gamersgate sale last week and I have been loving it ever since. This game is so much better than any piece of shit drivel GTA that has ever come out! It’s more story based like a Mafia game than sandbox. I must have a tin ear but I think that most of the accents are decent and the dialogue is awesome! The gunplay feels very natural and fun-something else that I thought was shit with GTA 4 and the driving controls feel pretty smooth (again completely the opposite from GTA 4). The setting also does a lot more for me-I’d much rather play in 1940s Paris (are they allowed to show titties like that in console games these days?) than play some guy from the hood in Los Angelos.

Oh I also have an ATI card (HD4670 mobile) and the game runs perfectly fine.

Yes, the console version shows naked breasts, if you choose that option at the start (I went for the uncensored version).

I played Saboteur on the PS3 for 20 minutes and literally nodded off in boredom. I simply can’t understand the appeal of GTA with Nazis, half-baked, and then sprinkled with the cocktease of a Mercenaries-alike.

As you haven’t played the game, what value do you think your opinion has?

Perhaps playing the game would make it clearer. Who knows?

Anyone still use Impulse/GameStop? What’s up with their “On Sale” list? It never seems like it’s complete. For example, Prototype is 50% off today… but it’s not on the sale list.

Anyway, Starpoint Gemini is $12 there. Not sure how long it’s been on sale there, but I don’t think it was already mentioned.

I don’t even receive the Impulse/Gamestop emails advertising specials and sales anymore. It’s like they’re not even trying. Half the time I forget Impulse is even there with the onslaught of Steam, GMG and Amazon download deals practically daily.

To kick off the New Year with a bang, Green Man Gaming is giving away 20,000 copies of Sniper: Ghost Warrior when you use voucher code GREEN-MANSS-NIPER after 1300 GMT 01/01/12!
