Based on the positive word at arstecnica I just used the TWEET code to preorder Deus Ex human edition, that’s $40 after 20% off, but has the soundtrack and stuff, if you aren’t interested in that you can get the regular edition for $34.

Like dead island, it’s steam works based so best of both worlds, great preorder price, and registers on my platform of choice, Sream

I can’t get GMG to accept my credit card, which is really irritating. Anyone else have the same issue? Their support section isn’t much help.

I wasn’t able to get PayPal to work with them. I e-mailed them and they responded the next day indicating they had fixed the problem for my account. It was about a 30-hour turnaround for their response, which doesn’t seem too bad.

I had to call my CC company to get them to accept the GMG charge. Are you sure it’s GMG declining it and not your CC?

I think it’s GMG, but I’m not totally sure. The error message just reads “The card number is incorrect.” which, while cryptic, suggests to me that it’s them thinking it’s not a valid card number, rather than the card being rejected as such. I guess I’ll submit a support ticket.

Call your bank and tell them the charge is ok. It’s because GMG is based in the UK, and most banks flag international purchases for fraud and block them automatically.

Flyinj is completely correct. Although my debit card purchase from GMG went through, I got a letter in the mail a couple of days later from my bank’s fraud protection agency that required me to call and tell them that the charge was okay.

Mine got denied, and I knew why, so I just tried using paypal instead and it worked fine.
