Awesome game. I loved what I played of it, and that was just the first world. Need to get back some time.

Basically STALKER/Deus Ex lite in a sci-fi universe complete with city/planet exploration and space flight/combat between the different planets.

Terrible translated dialog, but very open-ended.

There’s a fan improvement mod/patch thingy available at Beamdog for Precursors that gets rid of some graphical issues as well as adding in the Russian dialog to go along with the English subtitles. I’m not sure how these things work so I don’t know if one can apply this to a version purchased elsewhere. Worth a shot, though. There are significant improvements made with that patch.

The patches work on the GamersGate version. To summarize, to patch Precursors, you need to:

Download the Russian sounds pack. Big at over a gig. Install.
Then download the Wesp Precursor patch 1.4. Install.

That’s it, just those two, no others since the Wesp patch includes everything else.

Pretty strongly considering it. From the little I’ve read, there’s nothing in the Augmented edition like weapons or gameplay-related items, correct? Just the digital art, soundtrack and the like?

Edit: And purchased, had a $15 promo credit I had entirely forgotten about so I’m feeling rather pleased about this apparently pretty popular new title for $20. Thanks a lot for the link, I had been hoping for a deal soon since I didn’t snag the pre-order ones.

Nope. It’s the only way to get a silenced sniper rifle. It also comes with some antique shotgun.

Edit: Strike that. You get the tactical weapons pack for either version of the game. It’s exclusive to Amazon.

Really? The silenced sniper rifle was removed entirely from the game unless you buy from one retailer? That’s fucked up.

Can you at least mod an existing sniper rifle in the game with a silencer mod?

The silencer on the sniper rifle, or silencers on any guns? It doesn’t make a difference if you shoot a silenced pistol or a non-silenced pistol as far as them knowing where the shot came from?

Also, buying this leads you to a download page, which from what I’ve read is a bad idea. At least one user review complained that Steam doesn’t recognize the download. The correct thing to do, once purchased, is to go to your “digital items” page, copy the key, and then activate it on Steam. This worked for me (well, in 6-8 hours it will).

AFAIK, the silencer on this rifle is purely cosmetic. It looks like a silencer and makes the gun sound muffled, but enemies tend to react/not react as they would a normal rifle.
