How is Rochard? It’s the only game I don’t have.

Sadly, no. The soundtrack is really great. I never regretted buying that, but the game is a fairly unforgiving breakout clone. Like Bobjustbob said back when it came out, there are much more interesting breakout clones out there, like one of the Ricochet sequels he pointed me to on steam. The best part is that by buying the soundtrack, I was able to enjoy those other breakout clones more with the accompaniment of that great music.

I thought it was a fun platformer, worth $10 on its own. You have a gravity gun for grabbing items and moving them around and tossing them, an anti-gravity mode for higher jumping, and various other abilities/attacks that get unlocked over time. Though it is a bit puzzly in places from what I remember. I also liked the art style and the voice acting.

That is a great bundle. Too bad I already have Torchlight, SPAZ and Rochard. Easily worth paying/donating more than the average for those 3 alone.

Vessel is a incredible game, so everyone should grab the bundle just for that, at least.

I will give a second opinion on this one. I won’t claim to have played eighty hours of Shatter, by any means, but it seemed solid, polished, and relatively innovative in the Breakout genre. You can press the mouse buttons to push or pull the balls/power-ups away from your paddle or towards it. There are boss battles. As mentioned, the soundtrack is great, but so are the visuals and effects.

Vessel is also FANTASTIC. I’ll say it again: This is a hell of a bundle.

Wow, I just tried Vessel for the first time. I’m really sorry I never bought this before, because it’s one of the finest Indie games I’ve played in a long while.

It’s too bad I told myself no more puzzle platformers for a while. NO MORE

I agree.

…, and relatively innovative in the Breakout genre. You can press the mouse buttons to push or pull the balls/power-ups away from your paddle or towards it. There are boss battles.

I wasn’t really aware of where the Breakout genre had gone when I played Shatter. So I was surprised to learn that the push/pull mechanic and lots of other stuff has been going on in the genre. The Ricochet games in particular do some really cool stuff like that, and more. Plus their learning curve is a lot less harsh than Shatter’s. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be available on Steam anymore. I wonder what’s up with that.

Thanks for the info, Rock8Man. That makes sense. I’m definitely not up on the genre.

To the Moon is $4 on GOG today. If you have any interest in fiction taking on a game-format, I urge you to check it out. It’s a very unique and worthwhile experience.

God I love Google wallet and sites that don’t force you to register. Four clicks and bought.

Battlefield 3, $10 in Origin.

Wow. Cheapest we’ve seen, right? I’m tempted for the first time by Origin. Though I bet the expansions are not on sale, right?

You can use GMG20-AWDF9-Q1PEY at GMG to purchase Battlefield 3 Premium (installs on Origin) to bring the price down to $40. That would get you the whole enchilada for about $50.

Alternatively, you can use that code to get Battlefield Premium Edition (BF3 + Premium + Multiplayer Headstart) from GMG for $48 :). Personally I’m in for a $10 copy and then I’ll grab Premium later if the game clicks.

what’s this about a fifty dollar enchilada

I went the latter route when BF3 dropped to $16 a month ago or so. Having held off, I’ve really been enjoying the game even though I’m late to the party.

I snagged Premium from GMG shortly thereafter. Paying about $50-60 for the whole thing feels more appropriate to me than the $60 initial price + $50 or so for premium.

Is any of the premium stuff non MP? I really have no desire to play competitive FPS online but $10 to check out the engine and whatever minimal single player content is there seems okay.

The premium stuff is all MP maps. Single player Battlefield 3 is abysmal.

Hay guys, Saints Row 3 is on sale on Steam, and now that I have a rig that can likely run it, what would y’all say is the necessary DLC to own for the game?

Thanks!
