Erm, did you like Shogun?

Never played it.

Never played it

What didn’t you like about M2?

Wonky diplo AI, tactical battles too difficult (I’m sucky!) Rome was better because you could beat up on the barbarians even when outnumbered.

Shogun 2 has a superior diplomatic AI, though it’s not great, and the tactical battles are much simpler and easier to control (and richer for that). Don’t forget you can also adjust battle difficulty.

I really liked Shogun 2, and I would still be playing it if the load times weren’t so egregious. If you like the Total War formula, Shogun 2 is probably the best expression of it.

Of Shogun 2 and Fall of the samurai, which one is better?

Amazon has an EA bundle up for $10 that includes Burnout Paradise, Bullet Storm, Mirror’s Edge, The Saboteur, and Mercs 2.

OK, I’ve managed to resist the call of GMG until now, but I can’t see any other way of getting Dishonoured cheaper at launch through Steam than going through GMG. So I signed up for an account at GMG and applied the current 20% coupon on the site towards Dishonoured. It’s pretty convenient that I didn’t have to go looking for it elsewhere.

Theres no reason to resist. Show online retailers that we will respond to price cuts and it will result in better prices everywhere (including Steam).

Green Man Gaming is great so often, though in the meantime, I’m still supporting brick and mortar retailers. Yeah, I know, crazy! Snagged Dishonored for $32 including free shipping. I’ll have the disc or discs to save me several gigabytes of download, the case, and perhaps even a manual. I also snagged Hitman Absolution for $27. Now, those are some cheap prices.

The only issue I’ve had with Greenman Gaming is that they can be slow to distribute keys. They’ve been getting better (Borderlands 2 keys were out in plenty of time to pre-load), but be ready for that, potentially.

My reason for resisting this long was that I already buy from 5 digital retailers. Steam, GoG, Gamersgate, Gamefly(formerly D2D) and Amazon. I didn’t really want to add more to the mix. I’ve still been resisting Origins and Ubisoft’s store too. But I guess now it is done. I’m officially buying from 6 online digital retailers now. Because you know once you sign up, you won’t just buy games that unlock on Steam.

I don’t know that at all - I’ve had a GMG login for a couple years now, but they have a client that I don’t want to deal with and the only place they’ve ever really stood out was as a venue for preordering Steam games.

I only buy games from GMG that register on steam because i have no faith in GMG’s reliability due to constant, severe, web site stability issues (which explains how they can offer such nice discounts on preorders).

Doing this, it is almost like i only use steam since i download the games and play them via steam.

Kind of a matter of taste as they’re both done quite well. I prefer the original, but others will certainly feel differently. Fall does provide off-map naval bombardment as an added toy to play with (think: calling in artillery strikes in Company of Heroes), so that might tickle your fancy a bit or instead make it too “gamey.” I see no reason not to get both except for cost.

That’s actually a really good deal. Who’s offering it that low?

One suggestion for pre-orders: if you don’t receive an e-mail from GMG on release day, check your account thru their website. You may find that you already have a key, they just didn’t send it to you via e-mail yet; that happened to me with B-Lands 2.

The only other issue I’ve had with GMG has to do with my credit card company pitching a hissy fit sometimes when I try to order from them due to being an international transaction.

Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble! has a very cute premise and some clever writing. The mini-games themselves are not so great but for a pay what you want bundle I don’t think you can go wrong. It’s worth a few hours investment anyway in my opinion because of the novel premise and aesthetic.

Good for almost everything.

You know what other digital distributor did this? Right before going out of business? Direct2Drive.

GMG has done this for its entire existence though.
