Greenman Gaming is now offering a $10 GMG credit with pre-purchase of XCom for $44.
Better still if I read it correctly, it’s $10 credit, a free (transferrable) copy of Civ V, and it should apply retroactively to anyone who has already pre-purchased, so those of us who jumped at the $36 with free game trade in get an even better deal.
Now, anyone who knows why they’re pushing so much discount/freebie/swag for XCom? I don’t get the business sense idea here… is there a multiplayer component they need to try to saturate players with to make the game a success?
The idea may be to sell your game early for $40 to the typical late adopters rather than let them buy it for $20 (or less) a few months later.
The swag is mostly just what people are getting with the Steam preorder anyway, where Steam was trying something a bit different to begin with (unlocking tiers of stuff depending on the number of preorders). I’m still not sure how GMG gets their big discounts, though.

Actually $35, since the pre-order price at GMG is $44.99

Looks like Amazon matched the digital download Darksiders 2 price and then some. $18.75 after discount code.
New Groupees Be Mine bundle: http://groupees.com/bm5/
For $1 minimum, you get King’s Bounty: The Legend (amazing; Steam/noDRM) and a super promising indie roguelike/survival sim called NEO Scavenger in alpha/betafunding development (Desura/noDRM), as well as the cheesy (and T&A-laden) third person hack-n-slash X-Blades (Steam).
For at least $5, you also get Tropico 3 (Steam), Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD (Steam/noDRM), and some comics.
There’s at least one more game and some albums yet to be announced, probably at the $5+ mark.
I think this is probably the best bundle this particular outfit’s done.
Woo!
On GMG’s site:
“* $10 will be credited to your account within 24 hours of the game launch
** This offer is only available on the pre-purchase PC Download of XCOM Enemy Unknown in North America (including those pre-purchases made prior to the announcement of this offer).”
That GMG deal is insane. It was already a crazy good deal for the super low price. I can’t believe they did this, but it makes me feel even better about buying from them.
They haven’t given me my key yet, but as long as it is a couple days in advance i don’t mind.
I’m going to hold out and see if Amazon matches the $10 credit. I’d rather have it there. Looks like they’re already doing the DLC and free Civ 5.
Once you register it on steam, who cares where you bought it from.
I meant I’d rather have a credit on Amazon if they decide to match it.
You should have it now, as I just received an email containing my key at 11:09 PM ET.
EDIT: And pre-load’s up.

I’m not 100% sure I got the GMG XCom deal. The link said “Purchase” instead of “Pre-Purchase,” and it was listed as “Available Now” in my cart. On the other hand, the code I was given comes up as “XCom Enemy Unknown Game and DLC Pre-Purchase Bundle,” so I think I’m good. I guess I’ll find out within 24 hours of Tuesday.
Not to mention Arcanum, one of the funnest games of its era.
Amazon has Battlefield 3 for $9.99 today only. Unlocks via Origin.
Today is also the last day for the EA pack with Bulletstorm, Mirror’s Edge, The Saboteur, Burnout: Paradise and Mercs 2 for $9.99.
The “OCTOFUN1” coupon may work on these, but only if you haven’t already used it on something else.
Also works on Darksiders II pushing it down to $19 with the coupon which is cheaper than the current sale on Steam. However Steam can still bring it as daily deal with -75% this weekend so it’s a gamble (of a few dollars. ;) ).
Couple new Packs from Amazon:
Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY & Batman: Arkham City for $10
All three F.E.A.R. games for $10
All these unlock on Steam. “OCTOFUN1” code still applies for 25% off, one use only.
