Seems like a lot of work for just one vendor.

Gamersgate has unveiled its Halloween sale. Among many other games, they are selling Alone in the Dark for $2.50 – It was a poorly received game that does some really cool and unique things with physics and materials. Not a great game, deeply flawed and wonky all the way through, but it has a lot of cool ideas that no one else has attempted. I get excited about it here. Xbox controller highly recommended.

So is Steam

Is the Ghostbusters game no longer for sale on Steam?
I was hoping to pick it up during halloween. :/

(Not the Sanctum of Slime, the other one)

I don’t know but it’s on sale on Gamersgate. And it’s damn good for what it is.

Windows 8 Pro for $39.99

and the promo page that knocks it down to $17 if you’ve bought a PC recently…

$14. And you don’t have to buy the PC. I know several people who just claimed that they did. The site doesn’t verify.

Right. You basically put in your information (valid email address and other stuff), and you can get up to 5 upgrades at $15. Voucher code and link gets mailed to you. Not too shabby. I am NOT a huge fan of the Metro^H^H^H^H^HModern UI, but there is a lot good under the hood of Win 8 that makes an upgrade on some machines worth while.

Like what?

The question for most people is going to be whether or not it’s worth dealing with the Metro screen.

Huh, I might just get it if it’s $15.

Register and get the code. It’s good until January, so even if you don’t bite now, you can just keep the code for later if you want.

Good call, will do, thanks!

The only thing standing in my way is that if you upgrade from Vista you have to reinstall everything (I’ve been told).

I think I’m going to hold of on installing Win8 till 24" touchscreen monitors come down in price a bit more. Listening to some commentators, it seems great for touch or touch+mouse but not-so-great for mouse only.

But for $15, I think I’ll get my copy now so I can install later…

Sweet, thanks! I guess I’ll finally sign up at that site. :)

Is it a code that upgrades your current Windows 7 to 8, or is it its own separate license? Because I wouldn’t be interested in an upgrade-only.

Vista or Win7 upgrade only.

You ain’t getting standalone for $15, ya cheep bastards :)

But couldn’t you just do a clean install of Win7 as a dual-boot, and then install 8 over that without ever touching your current install of 7? That’s what I was hoping to do.

Well, considering I got my current Windows 7 Ultimate license for free (for attending a launch event as a “computer professional” (if I use a computer at work, I suppose that makes me a professional?)… ;-)
