Sleeping Dogs is the best GTAIV knock-off I’ve played. I think it even outclassed Nico’s tale in areas.

(Saints Row 3 is in a different genre as far as I’m concerned. Complete gonzo open-world hedonism.)

I just picked this up, they just stocked more keys. Had to unload em off the truck or something, guy said I was first in line. Boy was I happy to have it in my hand.

GOG is getting a jump on the Thanksgiving sales with a customizable indie bundle. For $10, you get to pick five games from a list with quite a few strong choices:

Grabbed the Gods and Kings Mac-for-PC key - thanks for that head’s up!

Me too, thanks!

I just played the demo and it seems pretty good. Movement is better with a gamepad due to the camera when using a mouse and keyboard, but combat was easier with the mouse and keyboard. I’m not sure what I like better. I had to turn aiming sensitivity down with the gamepad, otherwise I was zooming all over the screen.

And Amazon sent me a $5 coupon to use in January… so Gods and Kings turned out to be $2.49.

Does Max Payne 3 PC use GFWL?

No, but it does have Rockstar Social Club.

Tom Chick gave Sleeping Dogs just 2 stars (out of 5, I think). Is it worth playing? That GMG price is so tempting.

Yes, but he gave the horribly bland, creatively-bankrupt CoDBlops 2 four stars, so it balances out.

If only it were possible to read Tom’s reviews and figure out why he felt the way he did about each game, and then making the decision on whether or not the things that he liked (or didn’t like) applied to one’s own personal taste.

What!? Then people wouldn’t even NEED the numbers at the end! It would be chaos!

Seriously. If your opinion can’t be distilled down to a number at the end then I don’t even want it.

jerky graphics, trite story, awful driving physics, awful races, bad pacing

I guess I’ll skip it.

My tastes usually line up with Tom’s but I have to disagree with these complaints. The story is no better or worse than the story in GTA4, so YMMV. Other than that, I liked the pacing, the driving, and I thought the graphics were terrific.

You people are weird.

I enjoyed it for the 11 hours I put into it. Will return when current Dark Souls run is done. :)

Decent driving, great combat system (in an open world game that isn’t Batman), tons of collectibles to find (all purposeful since each one gives you upgrades), lots of side quests and a story that at least is mostly inline with the non-story activities.

There’s a demo on Steam if you want to check it out. I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs.

Sleeping Dogs blew up in GMG – getting a 404 page for it either purchase or just view.

PS Fuck you, GMG: "Your Payment Provider has not authorised your purchase. This may be because some banks (incorrectly) believe that Green Man Gaming is a gambling website. Please contact your bank to discuss your order. We are working with these banks to resolve this issue. "

I have never had more hassle paying GMG than any other vendor. PayPal, secure code on card … banks don’t like these guys. Which is a shame.
