Thanks for the tip, normally I’d be all over it right now, but given my backlog, I’d wait for a GOTY which I’m sure they’ll put on sale next year. :)

Here’s an interesting bundle from Strategy First for $4.99: http://www.strategyfirst.com/games/2681-strategy-first-thanksgiving-bundle.html

Achtung Panzer:Operation Star and it’s DLC is what I’d be most interested in, although I recall the 2 tank sims in the bundle from the same dev got pretty good reviews. I know nothing about the Victorian Admirals or Ironclad games, but hey, $5.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale at the MS Store. I already own Forza Horizon so I got the new Need for Speed for $25.

Now I just need a plan for tonight.

Walmart has some awesome deals starting at 8pm. Max Payne 3 for $15, Gran Turismo 5 XL for $10, LA noire complete for $10, Ratchet & Clank HD collection for $15.

Then at 9pm Target has 1600 MS point cards for $10.

I get off work at 7pm, so I could make the stop on my way home. Target would be really stretching it though. My wife will start wondering. Maybe I can bring her into the Target trip, pretend that the MS point card will help us rent movies, which is technically true.

As tempting as that bundle would be, AFAIK Strategy First has never changed their time-limited download policy.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is $20 on Gamestop/Impulse. Uses Origin.

Every Command and Conquer game for $25.

Skyrim for $30

IIRC the company that makes Sacred went out of business and that apparently messed with international distribution rights. (The expansion to Sacred 2 never came out in the US, either.) :(

Forza Horizon: $14.99!

Although this requires GMG’s Capsule client.

Capsule allows you to trade your digital games, but I understand it also requires a “Call home” every three days or your games deactivate.

Are you sure about that? All the other games I bought from there I just used the activation key on Steam.

The suggested method of purchase is finding a third party vendor who sells a hard copy of Sacred 2 Gold (new - don’t get it used), getting it shipped, and then installing the community patch. It’s a great game for those who like the Sacred mechanics (eg - where powering up an ability also has drawbacks like a longer cool-off time). It’s worth the extra money to me and I can really feel the love poured into it, but then again there are a ton of RPG’s readily available wherever you look. There will also be a Sacred 3 (albeit with a different developer, given Ascaron’s fate).

A few potentially interesting games with 75%-off sales that aren’t being promoted on the front page (so almost impossible to find without using one of those third-party tracking websites):

-Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece for $5: I’ve been curious about this since hearing the 3MA guys rave about it, and $5 is cheap enough to check it out.

-Inside a Star-Filled Sky for $2: Strange procedurally generated shmup with in infinite recursion mechanic.

-Offspring Fling for $2.: A puzzle-platformer that I remember getting a lot of praise on a podcast, but I can’t recall which one.

-All the Kohan games for $5 or sold individually for $2.50. Again, a supposedly unique RTS that I missed the first time around but have been curious about since hearing the 3MA discussion.

-Drakensang: The River of Time for $5. I seem to recall this getting a fair amount of praise as a well-made old-school party-based RPG, but don’t remember the specifics.

Was this a flash sale? I guess I missed it, probably due to the name. I played the demo and I’m not sure I want to spend $5 on it. I have too many other indie games to play this season. At least this one looks very short.

Just in case I decide to buy it: did your demo progress carry over? I’d imagine so since it’s based on Flash.

I’m also debating whether to finally pull the trigger on Dead Island. I noticed my co-op friend owns it, and we were looking for a co-op game to play before Borderlands 2 goes on a deep sale (likely next year).

Confirmed. No Steam key.

I guess they don’t want my money. Every time I try to buy it, when I get to the confirmation screen, the page just goes to the login screen in a loop. Oh well.

Yes it was a Flash Sale but it ran for a couple of hours (unlike those Amazon Lightning Sales). Still figuring the times out but it seems checking max 4 times a day is enough again to cover them all (like during the Summer Sale).

So far it was:

19:00 CET yesterday when the sale started
05:00 CET for the first change
11:00 CET for the second change (the original deals that started when the sale started expired there including Intrusion 2).
17:00 CET for the third change (deals from 05:00 CET expired)
23:00 CET for the change of the 11:00 deals.
05:00 CET again for the change of the deals that appeared at 17:00.

Might be able to cover them all by checking twice a day but we need more data first.

I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign with an old WoW buddie.
A lot of situational comic and also the silly animations were a ton of fun.
Once you get the ability to jump on downed zombie heads making them explode you will have a great time for sure.

I’m tempted by this, always been curious and also heard good things. But undoubtedly it will become another Euro-RPG that I buy and never actually play.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty $19.99 at Amazon; boxed version.

They also have The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition at 60% off.

Yes. It says right on the page that Capsule is required.

Anyone interested in going in on either of these?

  1. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare 4-pack is currently $50.24 ($16.79 for a single copy).

  2. Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion 4-pack is $59.99 (single copy $19.99), both on Steam and directly from Stardock (where they give you a Steam key).

Also, Fallen Enchantress is 33% off ($26.79) at Gamersgate, on Steam, and directly from Stardock. Apparently this is also Steamworks.
