Hmm, and is the DLC worth adding on for another $2.50?

Haven’t played it, but the reviews for the DraSa:TRoT DLC (Phileasson’s Secret) were clear. It was sold as a retail expansion pack for 20€ in Germany - and got bashed by the reviewers because it’s just a decent 5 hours long dungeon with an unimportant quest around it. Not worth 20€, but 2.5$? Decide for yourself. It’s certainly not an important part of the game.

Radon Labs was already bankrupt when the DLC came out. They were either close to being rescued by a browser game giant, or already no longer independent. Either way, they no longer had full control.

Now that they’re collecting tax + shipping, it’s actually more expensive than just to wait until tomorrow and get the download for $20 from Blizzard.

Not here, with Prime. And Blizzard doesn’t sell the Collector’s Edition.

That’s hard to describe - is “lack of weaknesses” a feature? ;)
It’s a party based game with RTwP combat. Character development is based on the massive The Dark Eye / DSA tabletop system. The game implemented ca. 25% of it, which is enough for a CRPG. One character can be generated, the rest of the party is collected on the way.
The world is colourful and full of details. But: light, nice and friendly - at least most of the time. Graphics and interface are polished, TRoT is a quite a beautiful and comfortable game, given that it’s a relatively complex Euro-RPG. The pace is relatively slow, as can be expected from this kind of game. The characters are interesting, the story is told in an entertaining way, everything blends nicely into the world.
There’s not much unnecessary walking (quick travel to known locations), overlong dungeons and filler combat have been avoided or reduced, the game is relatively short (ca. 30 hours).
The only weaknesses I can think of now are the average combat, the slowish character development - DSA is incredibly deep, but it takes a couple of levels to open up - and the usual slight camera problems all party RPGs have.

I didn’t play this one, but the first drak was basically a poor man’s version of NWN2. Extremely similar but only 2/3 as good in basically everything.

The 2nd might have stepped out on its own out of the shadow of what obviously influenced it a hell of a lot, but i would only recommend the first to someone who is a huge fan of nwn2 (or party/story based rpgs) and wants to play something like it. If you haven’t played nwn2 first, play that instead.

But again, the 2nd one might have made a name for itself as its own game…

If you know the first Drakensang, the 2nd game is easy to describe: Half the length (much less walking, shorter dungeons), everything improved. It’s really as if they had made a list of the ca. 10 most important points the community criticized and improved them all. Some slightly (technical stuff), some significantly (pacing, storytelling, voice-overs). This simply adds up. Due to the setting it’s still a matter of taste though.

Awesomenauts is fun so far. It’s a side-scroller MOBA with pretty good bots and 2000 players on steam, definitely worth a look given it’s only $3.
