Their version of The Witcher 2 appears to be the basic game whereas the version at Gamers’ Gate is the ‘Enhanced’ edition for a similar price (I can only see the price in pounds at GG and dollars at MS).

As always, it pays to check prices on other sites before commuting.

Crazy sale. Looks like Skyrim PC + Xbox went OOS fast. I just ordered Forza Horizon for $15 and Devil May Cry HD for $10. I saw that CoD:MW3 for PC was still available for $10.

Thanks for the heads up Luke M. I got Binary Domain, Shift 2 Unleashed and the new Ghost Recon. I wish I’d noticed early enough to get MW3 for 360 (and others). MW3 for PC is still available, but I only want it for it’s Spec Ops mode or whatever its called, and I’ll never convince anyone I know of buying the PC version since its still so expensive. But I already know people who have the 360 version.

Good stuff, and I can definitely recommend Dragon’s Dogma. They really nailed the gameplay.

Color me VERY surprised with Diablo III being part of a sale and going for $10.
Color me EXTREMELY unsurprised upon seeing an “Out of stock” note on the product page.

Out of curiosity, do the Games for Windows PC games require you to keep the disc in the drive, or are they just “buy the license key” sorts of deals?

Not sure peterb. I’m betting it varies by game. The only GFWL game I own on disc is Gears of War, and that requires the disc in the drive. I own others on Steam or bought digitally.

I really wish I could have gotten in on Dragon’s Dogma. It’s not the sort of game that I think I have the patience for, long term. But I wanted to experience its quirkiness for myself, and $10 seemed like the perfect price tag for that kind of a short “I’ve experienced it now I can put it away” type thing.

The original version of The Witcher 2 can be patched to the enhanced edition.

Max Payne 3 is $12.50 on Gamersgate–at least for now.

Ah OK i thought it might include DLCs that have to be paid for. I picked it up from GG along with the enhanced edition of the first game, but haven;t played it yet as I thought I’d play the first one first, so to speak :).

CDProjekt doesn’t believe in paid DLC.

There’s no real advantage to playing the first Witcher first. I did, but a lot of people don’t like the first but did like the second.

Skyrim Xbox for $10 sold out in a hurry probably because new copies on Ebay routinely sell for $40 and even Gamestop will give you $25 trade-in credit for a sealed copy (with Power Up Rewards bonus). Nothing like making $15-$30 instant profit on a purchase.

I wonder if this is an inventory drain for an upcoming Skyrim GOTY edition.

I don’t even see most of the games you guys are talking about in the store listings.

Did you follow Luke M’s link, which is quoted at the top of this page (if you didn’t change defaults)? They’re still showing for mW, though even more are sold out now once you click on the game.

The Microsoft Store doesn’t do downloads?

Also, what a great way to make a splash by the Microsoft store. I hope this isn’t a temporary thing. I hope they’ll join the big hitters like Steam, Amazon, GMG and Gamers gate as the big ones to watch for good prices and good sales.

Did anyone have a look at the Black Friday sales listing for GameStop stores? Such pathetic discounts compared to the big hitters. But they have the retail monopoly almost so I guess they can get away with giving minimal discounts on even the biggest sales days.

No, this seems to be an extension of their new retail stores. They opened one here in Kansas City too. Their digital downloads are still part of the Games For Windows Marketplace I believe, which is a separate store.

Hopefully they can integrate the two going forward.

Edit: P.S. the nice thing about having a MS store here in town is that everything I’ve ordered from them so far has arrived the next day in the mail, even though I choose the regular free shipping.

I did initially, but I wanted to look at a strictly PC listing because I really don’t think any 360 games I buy at this stage are likely to get played. I guess for whatever reason the individual platform listings have delisted a lot of these games, like Diablo 3. (Doesn’t seem to be that they’re out of stock, though they are, because other stuff like Skyrim that’s out of stock does show up.)
