They are like expansion packs with completely seperate story lines.
Both start with quests to go on “expeditions”.

The Pirate DLC sends you to an island and for a couple of hours you will not be able to go back / access your “bank”.

The other DLC sends you to a different part of the map which is opening up. I think you can port back home while on it from the start though but I’m not 100% sure.

Note:
I started the Pirate DLC around level 15 (as I read that the rewards are useless if you go in later) and found that it somehow BROKE the leveling progression once I went back into the main continent (I had outleveled the mobs I was supposed to kill next to progress the story lines).
I started the 2nd DLC once I finished the main story line / side quests at max level and it was fine.

So my advice would be either go in as soon as you can access the Pirate DLC (I think level 10) or go in after you completed the main game.
You will get loot which is useless to you but won’t break the main game’s progression / difficulty curve.

I liked the Pirate DLC more than the other but I might have been exhausted of the whole game once I started it (I put around 100+ hours in the game).

Thanks for those tips on the DLC intruder, I saw them appear in my quest log out of nowhere, wasn’t sure when I should start them up.

Nice, been waiting for a deal on Syndicate. From what I heard, the single-player campaign is fun but short. Five bucks seems about right.

I didn’t think so. It was too easy so I don’t really have to be careful about making good choices. There are a lot of buildings and edicts, so there are many options but I didn’t find the game challenging.

I think that is worth it. For me the fun came from the puzzles. The combat was kinda repetitive. It was all about strafing your party around to avoid getting hit.
Note: Some puzzles require fast movement and timing.

Amazon’s “Cyber Monday” sale is on. After briefly perusing their listing, I plan to pick up the Kingdoms of Amalur Complete bundle for $11.99. I wish it was on Steam vs. Origin but for that price, I won’t be too picky.

Is Tropico 4 any good? I thought 3 was kind of “meh”. It was mostly the same kind of missions over and over with the only difference being the pre-scripted events. Once you got past those, each scenario played out mostly the same.

Synopsis: Tropico 1 & 2 weren’t afraid to kick your butt. Tropico 3 & 4 (these are essentially the same games) are. They evolved from tough little city builders to relaxing little city builders; and to be honest I preferred Tropico 3.

Really? “I didn’t think so” equates to the matter being settled and no further questions permitted? From what I have read on the internet, it’s a mild upgrade of Tropico 3 that becomes significantly more interesting if you get the Modern Times expansion with it, which apparently adds quite a bit. I am probably going to bite, being a big fan of the series.
