Maybe Slyfrog was only agreeing with me instead of stating the topic was over? Hard to tell from the post but l’ll give the frog the benefit of the doubt :-). I think a lot of people liked Tropico 4 who are big fans of the series, so you may be in luck. I received more feedback from people when I gave that one a mediocre score than any other review.

I am not a big fan of the series. I liked the first and second ones enough to buy the third one. Then I played it and it was not challenging at all except for the fact of their gimmiky scripted events, like earth quakes destroy a bunch of expensive buildings.

Once past those events the standard formula that worked on almost all islands was to go tobacco production which let you rake in the cash. Just build whatever structures are needed to keep people from being pissed off while you concentrate on your economy. This is EVERY MAP. Since Tropico 4 is just a minor upgrade from Tropico 3, Ill pass. The idea is cool, but it seems that the developers ran out of innovative ideas long ago.

Tropicos 3 and 4 are not made by the same studio that made the first two.

GG have Deus Ex: Human Revolution at 75% off (£3.74 UK) - it activates through Steam.

The Pint Sized Paradox Package is available from Amazon.com for $5.99 U.S. It includes:

[ul]
[li]Warlock: Master of the Arcane[/li][li]Majesty Gold - HD[/li][li]Majesty 2 Collection[/li][li]Six Crusader Kings II DLC[/li][/ul]

Uh this GamersGate “minion” and achievement thing, what the fuck?

You also get the $5 credit from Amazon to spend in January on the Editor’s Choice games. Depending on how that goes, this is almost free.

It’s a great deal for Warlock and Majesty, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Warlock + DLC deal for under $10 during the Christmas sales.

As someone who doesn’t own Crusader Kings II, Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter, or Victoria II, yet does own Sword of the Stars Ultimate (doesn’t include the Argos Naval Yard expansion) on the old Impulse and everything Magicka on Steam, is Amazon’s Plentiful Paradox Package for $9.99 worth purchasing for CK2 and SotS2? I’ve never played a CK2-type game or the original SotS.

It’s a load of crap probably designed to promote ‘customer immersion’ or some such corporatespeak drivel. The Blue Coins aren’t bad - every three or four games they can amount to a free DLC - sort of like store loyalty cards.

Warlock, all DLC, Majesty 1&2, and Defenders of Ardania (Tower defense) for $10.

CK2 is a great game worth over $10 on its own. In the SotS2 thread, they say the game is now patched up and awesome and worth more than $10 on its own.

So, if you think you’ll play either of those, then yes, I’d say so.

Yeah, it’s their loyalty system. Just pick the minion with the genres you are most likely to buy listed and you’ll climb their loyalty ladder faster and get some bonus coins from time to time based on your purchases. I agree that it’s bizarre, but it’s not a terrible system.

Shameless cross-over plug from the Sots 2 thread: Sots 2 is on sale right now from Amazon for $7.50. Buying now entitles you to the mini-expansion completely for free (released on Nov 31st).

Would somebody be so kind as to buy that Amazon deal for me? I can’t avail of it thanks to being in Europe but $7.50 is a ridiculously low price for this game. Definitely below the point where I want to pick it up and try it just to see what all the big deal was.

I will gladly Paypal the money in advance, please PM if you can help. Thanks!

-edit- KevinC sorted me out :)

Thanks for that link, mouselock. The only thing I already had in that bundle was Majesty Gold HD.

Wait, there is no Nov 31. Is this another trick by Kerberos?

That’s how they get you!

Yep. Then when he buys that $15 game in January he tells himself he only paid $10.

A true fan can see November 31st.

They’re working on fixing November. Just buy it now and it’ll work when they manage to give the all clear on November.

I’m currently in a closed beta test for the new November. It’s going okay, but there’s fear that it could mess with Xmas, so everybody needs to do a complete reformat before installing.
