Wow, that’s a hell of a deal for those who have few/none of the games (I have all of those except Darksiders and RF: Armageddon). Would have been a better deal with RF: Guerrilla instead (by all accounts–I loved RF:G and I hear RF:A was nothing special).

Unreal Tournament 3 Black is on sale at Steam for $6.79 this weekend. Good shooter? Worth playing single player?

Simply the CoH titles in that THQ bundle for minimum $1 is about the best deal there’s ever been.

It’s a very pretty Unreal Tournament. Single player is just bot matches. The bots are as good as always. There’s a story linking the matches but it’s nonsense. There weren’t many people online when I played a few years ago, and I can’t imagine there are any more now.

I would bet – with absolutely no empirical evidence to back me up – that more folks still play U2K4 than U3.

I wonder if more folks play the original UT more than the others. Last time I logged on, a few months ago, there were still a lot of servers with folks on 'em.

Wait. THQ? Oh my.

That’s…a pretty major development.

That’s definitely the case with a couple of the server tracking websites. One doesn’t monitor original UT, has 2k4 as 604 servers and 484 players, 3 as 250 servers and 222 players. Another has UT at #18, 2k4 at #32, and 3 at #40.
Also note that the most active servers for UT and 2k4 are all fairly full, which isn’t really the case with 3. My guess would be that the older ones run on just about everything, so that’s what people keep playing.

Unreal 2k4 is actually more fun, IMO. Onslaught mode is better than the replacement, the art design isn’t so grey and dreary, etc.

Oh, man, I loved Onslaught.

While UT remains my favorite, I too loved Onslaught in UT2K4…and I hate, HATE multiplayer shooters, except for the UT games.

Odd question - if I already have all the games (which I do), can I enter the codes into my steam account and have them registered as gifts? (I understand I could just hand out the codes, but there’s a little less fun in sending someone a serial code than getting an official “gift”)

No. The Humble Bundle site specifically states that these cannot be gifted out, and that extra games will not show up as gifts; i.e. in my example, I have all the CoH games. Entering the key did not give me another set of CoH games to hand out, they’re effectively “wasted”. You enter the keys into Steam, they’re attached to you from that point on.

Gotcha. Thanks for the head up!

You can, however, send gift copies of the Humble Bundle itself. (And Saints Row 3, being a beat-the-average game, has a separate serial.)

We all should buy as the success of this bundle will create a precedence for 2K Bundle, EA Bundle and what not!

Dead Rising 2 Bundle - Base Game + Off the Record Expansion, 29.99 for the set over at Gamestop Downloads.

Probably fine single-player, had to use a mod to get to basic UI and options that were freely available in previous games for MP.

That sounds like an un-bargain.
