$30 for a game this old? Tell me about it…
Yeah, I’m making McKayla Maroney’s “Not Impressed” face here. Come on, Capcom, stop believing that your sh*t doesn’t stink.
This is a familiar refrain. UT/UT2K4 did so much just absolutely right. Back in the day it was all like “Let’s play CS d00d!!!111!!!” I would just sigh and go back to pub matches of Face, which never seemed to get old.
They still don’t. I played some rounds of Facing Worlds earlier this year. Still a blast.
I got UT and Quake 3 the same day.
Installed Quake and played 30 min. Installed UT and never touched Quake again (not because Quake was shit but because UT was so amazing).
CTF Instagib on the classic maps + CTF_AndAction was the best mutliplayer experience I ever had.
Yeeeeeeaaahhhh, I am so gonna reinstall it now and jump into some servers.

Yeah ctf Instagib was great, I used to play in the Jolt leagues, good times and my first real online gaming experience. Used to do m wifes head in, when I came to bed i’d dream of it and be very restless.
what is this I don’t even
I wonder if my UT2K4 install DVD would still install the game under Windows 7, and whether it still runs? Is it available on Steam if not?
What was the soccer-style mode where you were trying to get a ball through a goal or something?
It ran under Win7 32 bit on my machine last year, installed from Steam though.
But UT2K4 from GoG. It’s the mondo Editor’s Choice Edition (fully patched, no DRM). Works just fine on W7 x64 (tested)

All this talk about the older UT games is making me look at the Unreal deal pack: $13.59 for UT3, UT2K4, UT, Unreal 2 and Unreal gold.
That’s a fantastic deal, really.

I know rite?
I played the first Unreal when it came out, so many fond memories of that game.
One of the reasons I stuck with Voodoo cards for so long was because UT (and other Unreal engine games like DE) ran better using Glide than D3D or OGL. Ironically, I didn’t start playing CS until I felt like taking a break from UT. Good times, man, good times…
