This was just asked in the all-purpose space game thread, answers were:

Darkspore is 75% off at Steam today. This may be a good deal (on a supposedly mediocre game) in regions where the base price has dropped below “newly released” level.
Stacking is 33% off at GOG until tomorrow.
And Origin is hosting an advent calendar sale (EU only?) that, according to legend (and http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a442157/ea-introduces-advent-calendar-christmas-deals-on-origin.html ) will culminate in 50% off everything on Christmas day.
Today’s deal is 50% off FIFA 2013 and FIFA manager 2013.

It is a great game. Super fun for 15-20 minutes at a time. I remember reading that their goal in creating the game was making a star control/starflight game that you could play during your lunch break.

The real fun comes in learning the systems and then putting together a really great run that puts all of it together. They have fun random events (with rarity) that will help keep the game fresh for about 20 - 30 hours.

Thanks for all the feedback. I ended up purchasing it for a buck and was surprised to find the Steam code already activates (and the game can be installed and played), despite there not being a store page for it, yet.

Nice, it’s a lot of fun! Enjoy!

FWIW, the generic GMG codes can only be used once per order; but there’s no limit to how many orders you can apply them to - or at least I’ve never hit a limit. It’s annoying to do multiple orders just to keep re-using the codes, but it can be done (so far).

Great little time-waster, though if you’re looking for a “serious” 4X game, look elsewhere. It’s designed to play in 5-20 mins., depending on how large you make the randomly-generated universe.

Steam is selling controller-friendly games to celebrate the official release of big picture. Highlights include:

Lego Batman 2 for $10
Sine Mora for $3.40
Geometry Wars for $1

Plenty more!

Also, Super Hexagon is two fucking dollars, so buy it!

I felt like I was going to throw up watching the trailer on Steam. Other than get sick, what do you need to do in that game?

See the little triangle near the hexagon in the trailer? You move it around the hexagon, dodging the bars that flow from outside the screen toward the hexagon. Be sure to watch the trailer with sound to get the full effect.

Dude, he felt like he was gonna throw up watching the trailer, and you tell him to watch it with sound! Nice dude. ;)

Better he throw up now than when trying to beat my high score.

I’m looking out for him!

Yeah, less than a minute of that trailer and my brain is stew. I just can’t handle that much flashy spinny stuff. Even the bit-trip stuff mashes my brain up, this is insane.

You selfish BASTARD. robc04, I give you permission to throw up on Giaddon.

Man, where do you put your focus on when you play this game? I don’t think I could last more than 10 seconds if I just stared at the middle. I like the music, though.

You develop extra-sensory awareness while playing, so… EVERYWHERE

Also, that trailer is at the higher difficulty level and the player is really good.

Also, guys, Intrusion 2 is back on sale again. Seriously: This little indie physics shooter goes so far over the top with cool crap and epic boss battles. I was recommending it during the Thanksgiving sale just based off the demo. I’ve now played more than the demo levels and it just gets more and more amazing. Yes, I KNOW you’ve never heard of it. That’s not important. It’s wicked.

Here it comes…
Baaaaaaaaarf!

Now I feel better.

Looks difficult. Is it difficult? I’m sucky at these things.

Well, I tried the first boss battle about twenty times (it has generous checkpoints because it’s LOONG). That’s on normal difficulty. There is an easy setting. Not sure how much easier. But, no, it’s not a breeze. (I’m not real great at them, either.)
