And so it begins… :D

NOW*

and… ALL YOU SOB’s BETTER GET NS2! $9.99

Need for Speed 2?

That’s the only deal I saw so far that entices me.

Natural Selection 2. Probly gonna buy it.

The first day is typically not that epic. My wish list has a few temptations on it but, eh, I’ll hang on.

Can anyone please tell me what are the 2 region locked games on sale? I see Batman, War of the Roses, Intrusion and Natural Selection. I can’t see the last 2 since they are region locked. Thanks in advance

Fable III, Operation Flashpoint Red River.

You’re not missing anything.

Don’t forget to check your wishlist and anything else you may have been curious about. There are tons of unadvertised 60-80% off deals that run the length of the sale. For example, I have Krater in my wishlist and it’s 75% off ($5) for the duration of the sale. I’ll probably wait until the last day and pick that and a few other things up on the cheap.

ALSO - if you somehow haven’t taken advantage of the numerous THQ sales and deals in the last month or two, the THQ publisher’s pack for $25 is a really good deal for the few folks left who still don’t own a majority of those games. Definitely $25 worth of good gaming in that collection.

Thanks :)

Ugh yeah what a shitty selection for a first day. Everyone owns Mirror’s Edge already too (as they should).

Hmmmm I am tempted, but I would prefer steam version, dammit. Controller is not a problem.

Yeah, I was underwhelmed too. Damn near everything on my wish list is discounted, but almost all at 50% or less. C’mon Steam, you’ve conditioned me to seek 80%!

Cross posting from slick deals, Amazon has a darksiders sale going on for both the first Darksiders and the second one with all the DLC for $13

I’m definitely interested but I’m curious if Steam will try to match or beat it during the steam sale.

I wouldn’t really expect Steam will go much lower, considering there’s currently a Darksiders Franchise pack at 50% off going for $20. Even if there’s a daily deal for 75% off, you’ll only end up out of pocket a $3 difference.

Steam has non-game “You Need a Budget” on sale for $45. I picked it up because I’ve been looking for something like this to help get finances in order. Even has iOS/Android apps to help manage things/log spending. Really well done and there’s a demo. Normally $60. Info here: www.youneedabudget.com

I used an earlier version of the software a year or two ago and it was really great. IMO one of the best finance managing systems out there.

I have some questions about YNAB, but didn’t want to continue filling a games thread with personal finance stuff, so go here if you’re into this stuff. My question is about how YNAB compares to Mint.

Very tempted by this $6.79 deal on Sims Medieval. I haven’t played a Sims game since the first one, and I was fine keeping it that way, but Tom repeatedly made the case for it on the Qt3 Games podcast, 3 Moves Ahead, and Jumping the Shark (in multiple episodes). It sounded pretty darn cool, but now it’s finally at the price where I can just dabble in it and satisfy my curiosity. Though it would be at a better dabble price if it was $5 or below. Then I wouldn’t be hesitating.

Anyone comment on it either way? Either push me over the edge, or pull me back? I’ve already got a full slate of games over the holidays (Fallout: New Vegas, Torchlight 2 with friends, Halo 4 with friends and Forza Horizon with ghost Qt3 members), so it’ll be a while before I get to play it.

Sims Medieval actually tries to make The Sims a game, rather than just a fishbowl that you poke and prod. The base activities themselves are the same old Sims busywork, but there are time decisions to be made. I found Medieval more fun than vanilla Sims 3, but in the long run neither can hold my interest any more – that ship has sailed.

Fallout 3 GOTY is $5 on Gamers Gate. Requires Steam.

Hotline Miami is $5 on Gamefly. Also requires Steam.

If you’re on the fence or considering buying Scribblenauts for PC, wait. Amazon will have it for $7.50 from the 24th-26th. Activates on Steam according to the reviews.
