I really enjoyed it. And that was before the days of community patch and mods. :)
If you are familiar with Piranha Bytes games you will know what to expect, as they all tend to follow a similar template. Hand crafted open world with great atmosphere, choices that have consequences, picking between opposing factions, yet always a bit unwieldy and clunky. Full of character!
With the excellent community patch available, I’d say the answer to this is yes.
Missed this earlier but Arma 2 is on sale now at Amazon for $18. I believe that is the version you need for DayZ.
Glad to hear you got it. My order is still showing as pending and the game has not been added to my library. I’ve emailed them about it.

I hope they sort out your order soon.Origin is getting hammered too, and the download for the Deluxe Edition is moving like molasses. :(
Still, I owe you a big thanks for the info on that pricing screw-up :) Thank you very very much.
That is indeed the version, (Combined Ops), you need for DayZ. It’s also available for the same price on Steam, if that’s your thing.
ArmA 2 is a good game in its own right too, especially if you have a couple friends with it and two minutes to rub together in the editor.
That’s tempting. But I probably won’t finish Demon’s Souls until 2014. That’s when I’ll want to play Dark Souls. But the question is, will the digital sales of Dark Souls continue in 2014? Or will they have stopped putting it on sale by then? Or perhaps shut down their online servers for the game by then? Maybe I should just put Demon’s Souls aside until 2014 instead.

It’s back up to £7.50. Gamersgate keep doubling the discount by mistake.
Is Gothic 3, with or without the community patch, as unforgiving has first the two? I never could get far in either. (I already own 3 on disc and never tried it as a result).
Gamersgate appears to have hired temporary help for the holidays.

If you are referring to Gothic 3, I’m still seeing $3.75

Death to Spies is $1.99 on Amazon right now. Great World War 2 era stealth game. Those disappointed with Hitman: Absolution may want to check it out. Big non linear levels, a disguise system, etc. it’s not about assassinations, though.
Death to spies: Gold is $12.50 on Steam, both the original and the sequel together.

Lego LOTR is $15 on GMG, coupon takes it down another 30%

Registers on Steam. Currently $27 on Steam Store.
This one is just for DOTA2 players.
The new Christmas event they’re having rewards you for playing a lot with a more powerful Greevil character. But instead of playing it like 30+ times to get the best type, you can pick up a fully upgraded “Seraphic Egg” on the Steam Marketplace (New feature. Community -> Market) from other players for under a dollar. They charge $5 in their ingame shop for the basic parts to create one.
My personal favorite is blue, which’d be a “Greevil Egg” and three “Quas Essence” put into it. Around 50 cents. Has a fantastic disabling skill set: Magic Missile (stun), Ice Wall (slow + damage), and Black Hole (long area stun).
Other people buy the unopened gifts you earn every time you play for a quarter or more on the market. Kinda like making the best type of character in 3 games.

Amazon is supposed to have it for 7.50 come X-mas Day. :) Good things come to those who wait.

No. It’s closer to an Elder Scrolls game. Huge open world with 3 continents, 100+ hours, 3 endings … but of course less depth than the first two Gothics. The world is beautiful and still among the best out there. If you stumble into something you can’t beat, the huge dungeon under the first city would be an example, there’s always another 10 hours of stuff to do elsewhere.
G3 is a decent game with the Community Patches. The modders fixed what was humanly possible without rewriting half the code. JoWooD even gave them the source code and actually paid them for their work.
Especially if you like open world games there’s a lot to see.
If you want to try it, make sure to read the pdf for the CP before you start, because you have to make one or two non-reversible decisions.
The only two spoiler-free gameplay hints you need are:
- Don’t accidentally commit to any faction before you feel you’re ready! Freeing towns or taking out rebel outposts early on is not a good idea, even though you can do it. Once you’ve made your choice the other party will attack you on sight. So leave this for later unless it’s inevitable. G3 uses a reputation system and a counter for liberated cities & taken out camps.
- The game really picks up when you leave the costal area and go inside the continent. The starting area has comparably less content.

Clicked BUY NOW.
Used this on the checkout page (at the bottom): GMG30-DPLIM-DN831
The price went to $2.62, after applying the code.
I paid for it using past credits/tradein.
It spit out a Steam code, which I handily added to my Library.
Thank you, GMG!

Damn i bought last remnant for like $7 during some previous sale. Great game with some quirks. If you like jrpgs and are willing to try out a completely unique, semi hands off control system, i recommend it.

So what’s the diff between Gothic III Gold and Gothic III Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition? The Gold version appears to include Forsaken Gods, though sadly in its unenhanced form. Are the enhancements part of the fan patch, or is there stuff in the Enhanced Edition that you won’t get with the Gold Edition?
I think the consensus is that Gothic 3 is unplayable without the community patch, and the community patch doesn’t work with Forsaken Gods.
