Forsaken Gods is bad, not really worth playing. Gothic 3 itself is great.

Forsaken Gods is a stand-alone expansion which received its own CP. AFAIR All CPs for G3 and FG were free, maybe apart from a symbolic exclusive period for a re-release.
Despite that the consensus was indeed that G3:FG is not worth playing. It was made by some studio from India who didn’t really understand what they were doing.
It seems as though G3:FG does not include Gothic 3.

Very nice! I’ve been waiting for this one.
Agreed; also note that Forsaken Gods is the first Gothic game not made by Piranha Bytes, they moved on to Risen at this point.
Anyone wanna parse this ad that pops up in Steam today?
“Get Your Steam Wallet ready for the Holiday Sale! For a limited time 30% extra in-store credit when you trade any items toward funding your Steam Wallet.”
…then there’s a picture of a Steam card. See because I bought my kid a $50 Steam card for christmas, but if he can get an extra 30% I’ll let him have it early. But I’m not sure what “trade any items” means, and the “Click for Details” button is useless.
You can sell items in the new Steam Marketplace for Steam Wallet currency. Click Community, then Market. Only consumables for DOTA2 & TF2 currently supported.
If it ain’t that I’ve got no clue.

Think it’s a Gamestop deal ie trading items in store and getting extra credit if it’s going towards a steam wallet/card/whatever purchase.
If you have a game that Gamestop will give you $10 to trade in, they bump it up to $13 if you agree to use that trade-in value to buy Steam wallet credit. Has to be done during that transaction. Wallet can be purchased there in increments of $20 and $50.
But they don’t give you an actual gift card. You just get a code on a receipt that you activate on your Steam account. And Gamestop trade-in values tend to be relatively underwhelming.
Best Buy accepts trade ins and may offer you more money, and they also sell actual gift cards for Steam Wallet. According to BB’s website, my local store has them in stock, but the workers I talked to there had no idea what I was talking about, and I scoured the store and couldn’t find it myself. So YMMV.

A bunch of Warner Bros games should be getting added to the Amazon download sale right now. This includes:
LEGO Harry Potter 1&2/LEGO Batman 2 pack for $13.99 (Steam)
LEGO Lord of the Rings for $7.49 (Steam)
Batman Arkham Asylum & Arkham City GOTY Editions for $9.99 (Steam)
FEAR 1, 2 & 3 for $9.99 (Steam)
Scribblenauts Unlimited for $7.49 (Steam)
These will all be active through 12/26.
I also just noticed this EA pack with Mirror’s Edge, Sabateur, Burnout Paradise, Mercs 2 and Bulletstorm for $13.49. Those register on Origin.
Amazon’s also matching the Saint’s Row 3: Full Package price at $7.49, but since you also get that $5 voucher for January and the game still unlocks on Steam, they may be a better option.

Just got Scribblenauts and Lego LOTR .
crazy low Amazon prices !!! D:
Tony from Amazon posted on CAG that people who purchased 2K, THQ, Ubisoft and EA games from Amazon in the past year will get a $5 coupon for digital purchases for the respective publisher.
And from reading the rest of the thread, it looks like if you haven’t purchased something in the past year, you still have 12/24 to make a purchase to get a coupon.
AGAIN NOTE: I am in the process of getting everyone who purchased titles from these publishers in 2012 these promo codes. It will likely take the balance of 12/24 to do so.
Here are the details. Just tested everything except 2K (which I have to wait until tomorrow to test):

We’ll have the Tantalizing THQ Medley ($9.99 or $4.99 w/coupon) and the Darksiders II Franchise ($13.19) on sale again on 12/25 too, either would be a good pairing with this coupon.
Yeah I picked it up from them for slightly more back in a summer sale, also with a code. It was definitely worth the price, on of the most enjoyable JRPGs I’ve played. According to my Steam account it took me ages to finish.
I don’t think it has to be from that publisher. The promotional code email I just got this morning says since I bought an EA Game, I get a promotional credit of $5 on digital games on Amazon good for 12/25/12 only.
Now, if it does apply to only EA Games and I try to use it on something else, there’s no way to know that before buying it right? That’s what I hate about Amazon’s digital store. You have to click “Buy and download”, and unlike physical goods, it doesn’t first take you to a cart where you can see which discounts are being applied and how much it costs. For digital goods like games and mp3s it just takes me to a different screen where it doesn’t tell me any pricing info, and I have to hit confirm. And if I confirm, then I’ve already bought it and THEN I can go to my account and see my receipt. I did this a couple of times already with mp3s where i thought the credit I had applied, but after I bought it I discovered I didn’t get a discount after all. And all these $5 and $3 promotional credits just add to that pool of money you’re supposed to have, but some of them only apply on certain days, like this $5 one for Christmas day, but it will still show up in your pool before and after, which is so annoying. That’s one thing I hate about Amazon’s whole system. It’s aimed at being ambiguous and fooling you into making purchases hoping that your pool of promotional credit is being applied.
From the email I got concerning a THQ coupon:
THQ and Amazon would like to offer you a $5 credit towards any THQ Video Game Sold by Amazon.com and priced higher than $4.99 on 12/25/2012 only.
It then gave me a link to all the THQ games they carry (but not only those priced above $4.99. These coupons are publisher specific.
Yeah you’re right. I read my email again, and it does mention any “Electronic Arts Digital video game sold on Amazon”. Damn. Looking at the list of EA Games, the one I wanted (Sims Medieval) is no longer on sale for $6.79, it’s now at full price ($20). So the $5 promotional credit seems pretty worthless.
Well, we’ll see what sales may come back for Christmas day. I’ve gotten the EA, Ubisoft and THQ coupons so far. Just waiting on the 2K one, which I should be due, but they’re probably doing it last since it doesn’t become active until 12/26.
Nice, you buy games from all the publishers. I just got my second EA Games email. I guess I buy lots of EA Games on sale from Amazon. Of course, each one says that I can only use one $5 promotional credit only, so getting multiple EA Games $5 promo credit is worthless.
But yeah, hopefully we’ll see some good deals tomorrow. Like Battlefield 3 with all the DLC for less than $15.
I got the THQ credit email, and I think I’ll also be getting the 2K one as well.
For THQ, the Darksiders franchise pack for only $8.19 is a great deal. There’s some speculation that Amazon’s $7.49 pricematch against Steam for Saints Row 3 complete (http://www.amazon.com/Saints-Row-Third-Package-Download/dp/B009DL02E6/) may still be in effect on 12/25 morning.
However not sure I’ll do anything with the credits since I already have most of what I was interested in. Maybe the Tantalizing THQ Medley for $5 so I can finally get Space Marine. No DLC though. Is that stuff worth it? It all appears to be cosmetic with a few multiplayer maps. I’m guessing Steam will have the complete pack on sale for sub $10 soon. The bundle also includes Red Faction Guerrilla, which I don’t know much about but seems to have good reviews.
Speaking of Amazon and CAG, way back at Thanksgiving the CAG guy said Amazon was going to price the two Games of Thrones games together as a bundle for $10. They’re $18 on Steam right now, and since I’ve seen no mention of an Amazon deal at all I’m sorely tempted to buy from Steam. Anyone seen anything about a possible competing pricepoint from Amazon?
