Today’s GOTD is:
Amaranth games, Aveyond: Lord of Twilight
Amaranth’s product page: http://www.amaranthia.com/modules/oledrion/product.php?product_id=58
Not a bad freebie, on Mother’s Day!
Well it wants to install “software informer” whatever that is. Spyware fail?
It’s not spyware, silly. It’s software that helps you make informed decisions on acquiring the best software to keep your computer running in tip-top shape. Trust me on this.
Ah. Well, I installed it but the game crashes to desktop. At least it was free…
I don’t think you have to click that, after the install/activation goes through. At least, I had these options after the setup.exe was run:
[Install Software Informer] [Close]
I chose, [Close].
I have not had any crashing issues on Win7 x64, although the screen resolution is a bit annoying. Full Screen makes things look squished on a Wide Screen.
You can toggle a ‘Windowed’ mode, but you don’t have the option of changing the window size.
But how will you stay informed about software now?
I’m sure I will manage somehow…
as a temporary Steam tout…

Serious Sam is on sale because of the new Second Encounter DLC, and the Jedi Knight and KOTOR games are on sale because they are now available on Mac.
Steam has had KotOR and Jedi Academy for much lower prices before. Not much of a deal there unless you’re desperate for those games.
$5 seems like a lot for dear esther. I’ll go two fiddy.
I assume the Star Wars games are on sale because they’re now SteamPlay compatible. Doesn’t look like that’s the case for the Serious Sam games, though.

I see Impulse/Gamestop still has their goofy pricing on these deals. Want the gold edition of Disciples 3? $7! Oh, you just want the expansion? That’s $30.
Are both Disciples III games even worth $7? I know they weren’t worth it at full price, but what about at this price?
Amazon has started their MAYhem sale. Notables include Divinity II: DKS for $6 (Steam or DRM-free), Arma II: Combined Ops for $15, and Bioshock 1+2 (Steam or DRM-free) for $7.50. This post over on CheapAssGamer has a full list: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=317580
Steam is having a Ubisoft weekend promotion, 33% off their catalog.
Today’s special is 75% off the Ghost Recon franchise.
No link because the deal has disappeared from the front page right now. But if you click on the ubisoft publisher link you can see it mentioned with a smaller picture.
(hey, Far Cry 2 is included in the sale.)
That HAS to be a mistake. The only thing I don’t own there is Kane and Lynch 2 (and 7.49 for just that isn’t a terrible price).
Come onnnnnnn Anno 2070 daily deal. Let’s make that happen, Steam.
