Yeah, I noticed the Vessel price was still $15. I assume that will change ~10AM PST.
I’m gonna pick up Dark Scavenger, I think. Possibly also Defender’s Quest.

What’s the scoop on Swords & Soldiers? I sort of like the art direction, but it makes me wonder if there is a real strategy game there.
That is awesome! That game has been on my list of games to get for the longest time, no reason whatsoever not to get it now for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Yeah, steam prices are not up yet. I was going to buy dungeons of dredmor, but no go.
And now Steam, too. It must be a 2K Games holiday promotion.
I like how Steam is experimenting with different types of games for free weekends. This weekend it’s Civilization V!

I hear Grindr is pretty popular with some folks.
Just a quick note that Vessel is now $10 on the developer’s website; purchasing it there will get you a key you can use on Steam.
Free, plus you can trade the game in after this Saturday to get some store credit.

That’s pretty brilliant. I was thinking “I’m not going to fall for it and sign up for this greengamingthingie since I already own Disciples 2 Gold on GoG”, but now they’re trying to lure me in with promises of trading it for a discount on something else. That way I’ll sign up, and probably spend money on something else. So they get people who like games like Disciples 2 to sign up, and people who don’t like games like that as well (as well as people like me who already own it).
In my head I now picture the commercial that features the family with the thick Boston accents. “The AssHoppa?” “The AssHoppa!” “AssHoppa!” “Shut up!”
I can still watch that commercial over and over again and be entertained.
Not sure how long this is a current sale, or how long it has been a sale, or what, but Amazon has the Stronghold collection on sale for $4.99 as digital download:
You get Stronghold, Stronghold Crusader, the Stronghold Crusader expansion, (and those are all excellent)…and then if you enjoy the sensation of repeatedly hitting your thumb with a hammer, it also has Stronghold 2 and Stronghold Legends.
Still. $4.99 gets you DRM-free digital copies of the first two games, which right now are $4.99 and 9.99 respectively from GOG.com.

Ah! Thats a Boston Accent? Interesting…
(PS non-american here, so I’m not trying to be snarky…)
The term “Masshole” comes to mind when I see that clip ;)
It’s pretty novel, at least I’d never played anything quite like it before. You basically keep pumping out different types of units which walk across the play field until they make contact with enemy units and fight. The right build order and pacing wins the day.
Not much in the way of strategy, but not bad for a pretty casual experience. I nabbed it in a bundle for my tablet, and it’s a good fit for the platform, but I don’t think I would play it on my PC instead of other games I could spend the time on.
I was bouncing around Amazons digital downloads while contemplating that Stronghold offer mentioned upthread when I saw Divinity 2 : Dragon Knight Saga was $5.99.
Digital download edition, the one I linked is the Steam version, but they have a DRM free version as well. That’s a great price on a fantastic RPG. I paid $10 for it recently during a 75% off Steam Sale.
It’s actually a very old mechanic, but infrequently used. I thought about buying S&S because I adored Rescue Raiders on the Apple ][. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_Raiders
Does S&S have some sort of vehicle you control? The real secret to Rescue Raiders was getting a good build order out, then being ready with your helicopter at crucial moments to save your convoy or to knock out the last few enemy vehicles to allow your demolition truck into the enemy base.
