I only really wanted CK2 and SOTS2, but at that price they’re a bargain.

Added to my backlog.

Crusader Kings 2 and Sword of the Stars 2 each indivdually are worth the $12 you’ll spend on the package.

That said, be aware that the package represents hundreds of hours of gaming with a pretty steep learning curve (we’re talking Paradox here), so if you already have a sizeable backlog of gaming to slog through you may not be doing yourself a favor by picking these up…

Yeah, that’s the conclusion I came to as well. Heck, I’d drop 12 bucks on a meal that’s gone in minutes.

Is Sword of the Stars 2 really worth $12? It sounds like the game is still being heavily worked on to get it to the state it should have been on release. Can you seriously recommend it to anyone but a Sword of the Stars 1 fan?

The whole package is 12$, and includes SOTS2.

I’m aware of that, $12 for the package is a no-brainer, but if I was only getting it for SOTS2 because I owned the other games or had no interest in them, would it still be worth it?

An appropriate question.

I just bought it because I’ve wanted CK2 for a while and this is the cheapest I’ve seen it. But I knew I would pick up SOTS2 eventually so why not now?

I can’t tell you if it’s worth it yet obviously.

I’d say yes, it’s worth it, but with the caveat about time investment: even being a SotS1 fan, there’s a lot of new ground to cover in terms of learning how to play. The manual will be updated once it’s all done, so don’t count on that being a tremendously accurate tool in the meantime. That said, it should be done in the fairly near future.

We have an UN-bargain thread right?

Crysis 2 “Maximum Edition” now on Steam. $39.99

Found this gem for $1 (I ended up paying for the $4 support-the-dev pack) through the Because We May indie game thing going on right now:

Tons of fun. Reminds me a lot of VVVVVV, Super Meat Boy, etc…You know when you die, that it is your fault.

You control your guy with the arrow keys (or WASD) and the CTRL key for a bit of a boost that recharges. You have a little bit of inertia and acceleration to deal with, but it comes down to some fine controls, puzzle determination, and trap avoidance.

Starts off easy enough, starts to ramp up the difficulty at level 10, then some more at 20. I made it to 21 in less than an hour, but then set it down because I kept dying on what looks like an easy level, but it got me.

40MB and plays great on my netbook.

Steam midweek madness is Limbo for $4 and Dungeons Gold for $11.

Any recommendations as to either?

Crysis 2 back on Steam is a big deal since they removed it to pimp Origin last year.

I thought Limbo was a fun little puzzle/platform game. Good visuals and some great sound design. I’m not great at these sorts of games because I get frustrated pretty quickly, and I only got stuck a couple times. Most puzzles had pretty intuitive solutions, though there were a few where I had to die a few times before I could “get” what was going on. A few of the deaths seemed kind of cheap but no big deal because reloading was instantaneous and never set you back too far. It’s worth $4.

Everytime someone mentions Limbo I immediately think of that OTHER limbo game… that was hilarious!

I’m afraid the joke is lost on me… I see parts of the Oblivion box, Painkillar, Diablo II expansion, etc.

Is that that game under development a couple of years ago that basically ripped off a bunch of Oblivion assets?

It apparently was a point and click game that used other games art assets, lol.

Finished, released, and ripped off plenty of games besides Oblivion. While being astonishingly incompetent and awful in every other area. There’s a hilarious/painful screenshot Let’s Play here:

No it wouldn’t be worth it because you can buy SOTS2 buy itself for only $7.49 on Amazon.

Awesome. This sounds right up my alley. I love games like this.

Oh. Er… nevermind then. Can’t stand keyboard controls (or d-pad controls) for platformers. I used them back in the 80s on my Amstrad, but never since.

As of this post, LIMBO, at $3.99 is above it on the Top Sellers list.
